Alice In Chains Tribute?

A forthcoming Alice In Chains tribute helmed by Mudvayne frontman Chad Gray's Warner Bros. imprint label Bullygoat Records has been heavily rumoured. The effort, said to carry the title "We Pay Our Debt Sometimes: A Tribute To Alice In Chains", is slated to feature contributions from a wealth of rock/nu metal acts.

Moreover, studio musicianship for the outing is said to largely be overseen by the most recent Alice In Chains rhythm section, consisting of bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney.

The very tentative list of tracks reportedly set to look as follows:

  • Mudvayne - "Bleed The Freak"
  • Cold - "Junkhead"
  • Cardboard Vampyres - "Don't Follow"
  • Static-X - "Again"
  • Breaking Benjamin - "Would?"
  • Patrick Lachman / Jerry Cantrell - "Sea Of Sorrow"
  • Aaron Lewis - "Am I Inside"
  • Bloodsimple - "Rain When I Die"
  • Puddle Of Mudd - "I Stay Away"
  • Mark Lanegan / Mike McCready - "Frogs"
  • Adema - "Nutshell"
  • Audioslave - "Rooster"
  • Zakk Wylde / Jerry Cantrell - "Heaven Beside You"

Credits for the info go to IAYM.

I'm pretty sure that AIC would rather have Puddle of Mudd than you. In fact, even though I'm not a big Puddle of Mudd fan I'm certain they'll do a good job of it, and if they don't, well, it says right in the article that Mike and Sean are overseeing the studio part of it. If it sucks they probably won't release it.

I say it's been a long time coming. And really, I don't care who plays on it, if they were influenced by AIC they have every right to play.

Zakk may harmonize with jerry cantrell, but jerry wrote the song and did most of the singing on it to. check out jerry cantrells solo project Degradation Trip volumes 1&2. the sound is very much alice in chains, and he sounds so much like layne stayley.

It'll be interesting to see if those bands include the solos on the songs, if they do I'll probably like them. It seems to me that AIC's songs are musically more complex then a lot of those bands songs are so we'll have to see how it goes.

To everyone like "OMG WHY IS MUDVAYNE BREAKING BENJAMIN AND STATIC X AND ADEMA HERE??!! WAAAAHHH!"

That's the whole point of a TRIBUTE ... Frankly I think it's wonderful that they're all acknowledging the one band that inspired them all. Alice in Chains's influence oftentimes goes so ignored, everyone's like "Nirvana did it all bla bla bla", well with this finally maybe Alice in Chains will get the recognition that they so wholly deserve.

Good job on that one, chief. I was merely stating what I thought of the bands and what songs they would be performing on the tribute. I wasn't telling you that you have to think what I think or I'm going to put you in Auchwitz. I was merely saying what I thought. That is the point of commenting on articles isn't it? To say what you think about them? I'll keep your comment in mind when I decide to reply to something on this website again. Idiot.
