Arcade Fire have posted a trailer titled "Reflektor 9/9/9
" online, NME
The band are due to reveal something at 9pm on September 9 with the video again confirming the time and date to viewers. Details beyond that are scant, with repeated use of the "Reflektor"
imagery and name throughout. The clip features the appearance of band singer Regine Chassagne
playing the percussion alongside with the other unrecognizable band members and ends with frontman Win Butler
approaching a microphone as if to sing. See the trailer below.
The trailer follows a mysterious snippet of new music
posted on Spotify
this week. The 15-second clip features an atmospheric wash of synths and no vocals. It appears on Spotify under the album name "Reflektor
" and features the track title "9pm 9/9
" - which suggests that a more substantial slice of new music could be unveiled next week.
Last month (August 27), the band confirmed that they were behind
the viral "Reflektor" advertising campaign spotted in numerous cities around the world in recent weeks. The campaign focused on a circular graphic containing letters that spell out the word "Reflektor."
They have previously confirmed
they will release 2010's "The Suburbs
" follow-up on October 29 by replying to a fan on Twitter who wrote "you're my favourite."
Earlier this year former LCD Soundsystem
frontman James Murphy
spoke to NME about the band's new album, which he is helping to produce. Quizzed on what it sounds like, Murphy said: "It sounds like Arcade Fire in the way that only Arcade Fire sound like Arcade Fire, you know? It's really f--king epic. Seriously. I mean, I feel at this point like I'm too close to it to really talk it up and do it justice, you know?"
