The third album from the acclaimed Arctic Monkeys is due out for release this year and is being produced by Josh Homme, best known for his work as the frontman for Queens Of The Stone Age. Singer Alex Turner spoke with Nme.com about how writing for the album began and a track you can expect to hear on the band’s currently untitled third album.
Turner says that the band began working on their record last summer after performing at the
Latitude Festival. "
We went to Latitude, ripped it up, wrote on our faces and eventually wrote some songs," he says. "
We spent the first day there on the most complicated riff you've ever heard."
"It goes round in seven-and-a-half-time," he continues. "We used it in the end, it's on an intro. It was like [Black] Sabbath."
Fans looking forward to the new record likely wont have to wait long as the band has said they plan to release it before their performances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals this August. Additionally, you can check out the band’s YouTube page and watch drummer Matt Helders’ video blog. His most recent video, "The View From… The Birthday Boy…," features clips of the band rehearsing new material.
