Arctic Monkeys Eyeing August Release For Third Album

Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders has revealed the band are hoping to release their third album in August.

The record, which is currently untitled, has been produced by Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.

Speaking to BBC 6 Music, Helders said the the band had recorded all of the songs and were currently half-way through the mixing stage.

But he added: "We haven't picked titles or anything. It's just a case of tying it up now, picking what order everything's in."

Arctic Monkeys are expected to showcase the follow-up to 2007's "Favourite Worst Nightmare" during festival appearances this summer.

Helders is curating a free festival in Sheffield this summer.

Tramlines will run from July 24-27 at venues across the city, but will not feature the drummer's band.

Ah very nice, the first album was extremely good, FWM was good but at points very mediocre and it sounded overproduced on some songs.

I hope it is more like their older material

If they ruined this one as much as the FWN (which still had 2-3 good songs on it...), I guess I'm done with Arctic Monkeys. But I don't see how Josh Homme could let them ruin it though...

On another note, the guy worked with Mastodon and now he's working with Arctic Monkeys??? He's amazing...

I agree. However I love both arctic monkeys albums equally. FWN was cool because it had some cool sounds and a darker tone, although I'm curious to see where this 3rd album goes. Love this band and I'm from Australia!

I heard that the new album was going to be groovier and heavier, like QOTSA, apparently they're fans of them, and Homme's producing it so maybe that'll be an influence.
