Arctic Monkeys To Get Heavier

Arctic Monkeys are to get heavier on their new album, according to drummer Matt Helders.

"[It's] not 'heavy metal' heavy - just more aggressive. We're all into Queens Of The Stone Age. When we got to play with them and see them live it gave us a kick up the a***." Helders told Nme.

"They are an inspiration, they show you can still have top tunes and loud, heavy songs, too. It's a lot more fun playing loud music - simple as that."

The band have not yet begun work on their third album, as frontman Alex Turner is currently touring the debut album with his other band The Last Shadow Puppets.

They said their last album was influenced by QOTSA, but i didnt see it. If this one has got a big QOTSA vibe, then i will be well pleased

arctic monkeys to get heavier...heh...on reading that title i got a weird mental image of a dozen fat monkeys wearing ear muffs..tee hee....i know this is totally off subject , but there seems to be very less fat people in the rock music industry ....the only fat rockers i can think of right now are vinnie paul and van halens son

There's one of the guitarists of the Hives, Lars Ulrich is chubby I think and Adele is on the heavy side as well.

Good to see the Monkeys progressing. I like QOTSA more than I like the Arctic Monkeys.

Arctic Monkeys heavy? They have some songs that already get kinda heavy. Sometimes when bands say heavy though it's a good sign the album has good suck potential.

You've got to put this in perspective. When Arctic Monkeys refer to "heavy" they are talking about the breakdown of Fake Tales of San Francisco or If you were there Beware. Not "heavy" as in metal music. I'm looking forward to it. After all it was the soft song on each of the first two cds that sucked the most.

That's because you burn quite a few calories on stage, and the diets for the smaller bands on tour are not very fatty...or healthy.

the extra ordinary answer to the common blunder is because when america took the English language, mispelled it and called it American-English, this happened to be one of the words they mispelled. Im not sure if your aware of this but Arctic Monkeys are English therefore they pronounce and spell it like this ARSE hence the extra *

Unfortunately, I think that if the band takes a bit too far a turn, then they could alienate a lot of their fans.

I just hope the singer drops the overbearing accent, it's offputting :p:
