Three songs have been cut from the brand album from Be Your Own Pet for being too violent it has emerged.
The tracks which were originally included on the track listing for ‘Get Awkward’ were removed from the American version of the LP by Universal who released album last week (March 18) in association with Ecstatic Peace, the label owned by Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore.
The lyrical content of ‘Blow Yr Mind’, ‘Black Hole’ and ‘Becky’ include threats of violence and murder, but will still be released on the international release of the record which came out via XL.
Universal, whose roster includes shock rocker Marilyn Manson, Eminem and 50 Cent sought to have the tracks removed just weeks before the release date.
The songs are currently streaming on the band’s Myspace page and official website and were among the tracks performed in London last week when the band sparked a mass food fight using whipped cream.
