Beastie Boys: New LP Out In Summer

An uncharacteristically short three years after their last disc, 2004's "To The 5 Boroughs," the Beastie Boys are putting the finishing touches on a new record. "Hopefully that'll be out this summer, too," group member Adam Yauch tells Billboard.

Though he remained characteristically tight-lipped about details, Yauch says the Beasties plan to air out some of the new material in a series of dates this summer, including a headlining slot at the Sasquatch Festival, to be held May 26-27 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash.

From there, the Beastie Boys head to Europe for a series of festival dates. The band also plays a headlining set in Paris on June 26.

As first reported here Friday, Yauch has also produced a new record by the original lineup of Bad Brains, "Build a Nation," due in late May or early June via Megaforce.

I agree. They used to be good in the '80s when they had Kerry King play a couple of songs for them, and they still had some Punk Rock/Metal attitude and attributes to them. But now they're all ghetto and thug hip hop crap. they don't deserve any respect now

Beastie Boys started as a hard-core punk band, played all the instruments on Check Your Head (1992) and Ill Communication (1994)....remember the song Sabotage??
...Not too mention released two punk cd's in the late 90's.

Sweet...I love Beastie Boys. They're great and almost all of their rap sounds ten times better than anything out today. A lot of people who think they've sold out have obviously not been in tune to their careers. They're great with mixing rock into their songs and even play some of their own instruments in the mixes. Do not judge them by fight for your right, that's not even close to the majority of the music they do or style. If anything, that's the song that's least like their style. But of course they're used to making "the new style...."

I've been an on-off fan of them. Their best record was Paul's Boutique, but it was so far ahead of its time. Now they're quite boring. 5 Boroughs was rubbish. Hopefully they come out with something good this time.
