When Blink-182 announced that they had reunited back in February 2009, many fans were hoping for a return to the irreverent snot nosed humour that the band displayed on records such as Enema Of The State and Take Off Your Pants And Jacket.
The band’s new album Neighbourhoods, however, could prove a different affair. According to NME, while Blink bassist Mark Hoppus is happy with the album, he is aware that some people will think the new album "sucks":
"
I'm very proud of the record as a whole. Expectations are giant for this album and that's a huge honour. People are excited about our band even after eight years of not having a new CD. That said, there are going to be some people who are like 'this record sucks'... There are some people out there that just want 'What's My Age Again?' Blink-182 in Dickies shorts and Hurley T-shirts, running around just being silly and screaming and whatever. We have always tried to keep our heads down and do our own thing... You know what? We can't please everybody and the only people you can please as artists are yourselves, because you can't guess what other people are going to like."
Neighbourhoods is scheduled for release on September 26th. First single "Up All Night" was released back in July. The Blinkumentary, a documentary about the band’s history, is due to be premiered later this year.
