Chevelle have set "Vena Sera" as the title of their fifth studio LP, due on April 3 via Epic. The album was recorded with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette, with whom the band previously worked with on both "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" and "Wonder What's Next".
The full track listing for "Vena Sera" is as follows:
01. Antisaint
02. Brainiac
03. Saferwaters
04. Well Enough Alone
05. Straight Jacket Fashion
06. The Fad
07. Humanoid
08. Paint The Seconds
09. Midnight To Midnight
10. I Get It
11. Saturdays
In an interview with MTV.com conducted last October, Chevelle frontman Pete Loeffler stated about the group's upcoming CD, "It's heavy as sh--," he said. "We're gonna have vintage tones on this record. We're trying to move away from that more typical modern-rock sound and trying to get better tones on this record. Everything is going to sound better, and the music will be a little more focused. I don't know where the landscape of rock is right now, but I don't think it's in a good place. If you do one thing and you do it well, eventually it will come back around for you. I don't know about other bands, but we're sticking to what we know and love."

: These guys used to be a Christian band, but Im kind of not so sure anymore. Songs like Antisaint and saying "Its heavy as shit" kind of makes me think they are just rock. Which is fine, everyone has the freedom to do what they want, but how do they in turn say "But we're sticking to what we know and love"?POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 10:40 am / quote |

: I have all their albums, including Point .1, and I haven't heard a christian thing on it. Listen - just because bands don't sing about death, drepression, and dress like a saddened goth kid fresh outta first period gym, which they refused to take, doesn't make them Christian. It's the same thing with 10 Years. Besides, if they were - would it matter, really? Aren't artists allowed to say whatever with their music? Who cares if they're singing about God or chirstianity - they're voicing their opinions just like every other band out there, christian or not.Damn people - can't it be as simple as "I like the music, I don't like the music?"POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 11:30 am / quote |

: Christian! I don't know about that you might wanna check your info , anyways I like Chevelle and I have seen them live 3 times and it was great everytime. They exude a lot of power and intensity in there music. POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 11:35 am / quote |

: They're not a Christian band. Their first album was on a Christian label so that's what people started calling them. They had confirmed that they aren't.
Anyways, Chevelle is my favorite band and I am so excited for this album. I have a feeling it will be their best one to date.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 11:40 am / quote |

: i'm still wondering exactly what their talking about saying that its gonna be heavy as shit, but its gonna be vintage tones. I also wonder when their next singles gonna be out. I love their old CD(with the exception of point #1, because it was so damn boring).
I really hope they make a new dvd, because live in chicago is a terrible example of them live. I saw them in philly about 2 years ago, and they blew the phucking doors off the place, it was wild, but on that dvd all my friends were like dud their so damn boring. So hopefully they can redeem themselves with something like that.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 12:47 pm / quote |

: About time man. Hope it's as good as their last two.
But Chevelle isn't a christian band. As rockmusicfan said they signed to a christian label for during their first album so everybody called them a christian band.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 12:50 pm / quote |

I've got Point #1, Wonder What's Next and This Type Of Thinking ( Could Do Us In ) . . . I'm gonna have to agree with "elcapitan1800" in reference to this being there 4th Studio album and not there 5th.
"Live From The Road" wasn't a studio album. Was the writer inclining that it was ?? Or are we both mistaken and there is another album somewhere ??
Anyways, Chevelle has always stood good in my collection and I'm hoping this CD is just a good if not better than there previous albums. Regardless what happened with there bassist/brother I hope the bass is just as kick a** as on there other stuff.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 01:50 pm / quote |

: nah, they just booted there brother out of the band, I guess he was getting lazy. Pete plays the bass on recordings anyways so I dont think the music will suffer. The new bass player is questionable though.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 02:59 pm / quote |

: I think the 5th album they are talking about, that no one knows about is their demo album "Blue"
The only songs I know on this demo are "Tom" and "Tetelestai"
I have both of them, they are pretty good.
Go to this site to download them---- http://www.chevelleonline.net/
I personally cannot wait for this CD, they are my favorite band ever!!

He's right, you know...they do take a pretty big influence from Tool, though perhaps aren't trying to be them. Pretty good band, can't say I listen to them much anymore, but they got meinto stuff like Alice in Chains and Tool, so they get credit at least for thatPOSTED: 01/16/2007 - 05:59 pm / quote |

: My initial reaction is "YES! New Chevelle!"
Then I read the article. I'm still pumped about it, but I am sick and tired of bands claiming they're going for a more vintage or classic sound. Every, and I mean every, band now adays is saying it, no matter how completely NOT vintage it is. chevelle is and will never be vintage. That's not a bad thing, I like heavy distortion.
Even Falloutboy claimed it, and they have jay-z guesting. I can't remember the last article I read on here about an upcoming album that somewhere didn't make the classic claim. Noone ever says "we're trying new modern stuff" whether they are or not they always claim they're vintage, and it's really getting annoying.POSTED: 01/16/2007 - 10:38 pm / quote |

Yeah its kind of annoying how all these bands are trying to fall back on past tones and music when they need to look towards the future, Chevelles last two albums were great and the modern tones they had in them were outstanding

: yeah...chevelle started out christian and have had christian songs such as: "the clincher"(which talks abot how we should have died on the cross instead of Christ), "point#1", and "grab thy hand". however since the release of this type of thinking could do us in; it seems as though they have lost that christian label due to swearing found on that cd. however, personally it sounds like they are stil christians, but just not really hardcore crhistians...anyways..i luv them..and they do not sound like tool..totally different styles...POSTED: 03/16/2007 - 07:31 pm / quote |

: I've heard the album. And, as a diehard Chevelle fan, I love it. It is much heavier than This Type of Thinking, and it's generally quite tasty sounding. The single, Well Enough Alone, is the worst on the album, IMO. Don't let it fool you. Songs like Midnight to Midnight are GREAT. Actually basically all the songs except for Well Enough Alone are quite good and Chevelle-y.POSTED: 03/27/2007 - 10:37 pm / quote |

: this album is alot harder, the guitar riffs are badass wile not being that complex. sam does a wonderful job on the drums and dean is a wonderful bassist wile pete is still so melodic he has amped up the vocals and made this cd a sure buy. the only thing i missed was the acoustic song, but with how good the songs are it doesnt need one. in my opinion the best song is "paint the seconds"... the only problem i hear is that the volcal volume is a little low, but that can be fixed woth an equilaizerPOSTED: 03/31/2007 - 01:54 pm / quote |

: What frustrates me is how people get so judgemental on whether or not it's "christian" music. Who cares, I am not a Christian, nor am I into Satan, or demons or whatever you want to say. I let the music speak for itself. There is alot of crap out there, in all genres of music, but don't tag along quality with personal beliefs!

: One word....Awesome! Their new album is definitely better than they're last one. I wouldn't say its better than "Wonder Whats Next" b/c its just differnent. It is heavier and yet more complex. Pete describes it well in the article as being "more focused." And yet chevelle haven't shunned away from their roots, although every band these days seems to. Their single "Well Enough Alone" is not even close to being as good as the other songs on this album. Saturdays, The Fad, I Get It are amazing songs. Heavy yet more creative and branching out from their past songs. Granted I am biased, die-hard chevelle fan but this album further increased my respect for them as musicians.POSTED: 04/17/2007 - 03:44 am / quote |

: Sorry guys, I loved chevelle's first, second, and third album, but in this latest, it's just...too bogged down with special effects. Take the songs The Red, Mia, Family System, and even The Clincher. They all had these, slightly hardcore guitar moments, with melodic yet serious singing to go along with it. In their new album, which I give a 3 1/2 out of 5, I thought they branched a little out of what "chevelle" stood for, in my opinion. But like I said it doesn't suck, I just miss some of the classic chevelle.POSTED: 08/23/2007 - 03:55 am / quote |
