Coheed & Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez has launched a zombie comic series called Key of Z.
Sanchez’s previous comic work includes The Amory Wars – which was based on Coheed & Cambria songs – and Kill Audio. The new comic, a collaboration with Chondra Echert (who also worked on Kill Audio), is set in a zombified New York City. Cover artists include Nathan Fox of Fluorescent Black and Tony Moore of The Walking Dead, with artwork by Aaron Kuder (The Amory Wars).
The story is told through the eyes of Ewing, a transplanted Texan who was a security guard for a politician prior to the zombie outbreak. Ewing must fight for survival in a New York ruled by three safe areas: Yankee Stadium, Citi Field and Madison Square Garden.
Meanwhile, Coheed & Cambria will begin recording their new album next month. Sanchez recently told Radio.com that the album would stay within the world of the Amory Wars and "go further into the past. Fans should be excited who of the characters we have picked to follow in this prequel saga. I will say that it will hint and influence the pre-existing saga, and that it is all related."
