Coheed And Cambria Discuss New Material

"The Amory Wars" is a science fiction story told through progressive rock group Coheed And Cambria's concept albums. "Year Of The Black Rainbow", the band's fifth album, was released last year as a prologue to the tale and effectively finished the story. So now that "The Amory Wars" is finished, where is the band going from here?

The group's guitarist, Travis Stever, spoke to Billboard.com about the band's future plans and as well as their 10th anniversary tour. It seems that the members have begun to independently put together some new material, and it looks like they're going to continue to release concept albums.

"I think there's a lot of ideas floating around - nothing set in stone, which there shouldn't be yet", Stever said. "Claudio has written quite a few songs that he doesn't know what they're going to be for. They could be Coheed. I've been working on stuff, everybody's working on music constantly, so there's ideas all over the place. Once we get together as a band and work those ideas out... we'll see what happens. I have a feeling whatever the band decides to do, it's going to be great. I believe Claudio is most comfortable writing in a conceptual fashion, so that should continue as well."

"I can't remember a time in the past 10 years when the next three months head weren't planned already", he continued. "Right now I think it's important for us to live in the now a little bit more. We put on a better show living in the now, and we'll go on to what's next and the next thing when we're ready."

Coheed And Cambria also recently set out on a tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary since the recording of their first full-length album. The group will be playing their debut album, "The Second Stage Turbine Blade", in its entirety along with an acoustic set and some songs from other albums.

"It's a real ode to our fans, our hardcore fans", Stever said. "It's one of the better shows we've gone out with in a really long time. We're always ready to stimulate the ears and the eyes, but on this one we wanted to make it really special."
