Creed Promises New Album This Summer

Creed frontman Scott Stapp says the reunited group is about "a week and a half away" from pre-production for its new album, tentatively titled "Full Circle." And he promises that "we're gonna have an album mixed and mastered in the next five weeks" - hopefully for an August release.

"We're excited to share (the new music) with our fans, and we really have a lot we want to prove" after a five-year hiatus, Stapp tells Billboard.com. He says Creed - which hits the road Aug. 6 for a 10-week tour - has "13, 14 songs that we would consider as album keepers" for the group's first set of new material since 2001's "Weathered." "We've written more than that, but we've got this many that are fighting for a spot on the record. So we're in a good place." The group plans to record in Nashville with producer Howard Benson.

Stapp says Creed came up with the song "Full Circle" during its first session playing together and hope to release that track as the album's first single, perhaps by late June. Other pending song titles include "A Thousand Faces," "Slow Suicide" and "Don't Give Up," and the frontman says there's "a lot of reflection" in the new material, much of which focuses on the "resolution" Stapp and his bandmates have found between each other and in their own lives.

"It's not a hopeless, complaining record," Stapp says. "It's telling stories, but it's also rocking out, man. We're rocking harder now with some of the songs than we ever have. It's from a different place and a different type of reflection and a different level of maturity, but we're a rock band, so there's still that brashness. There's a confidence and a swagger that I think we only feel collectively. Our music is fresh and still very connected to who we are and the sound we have, but it's also taken a natural evolution."

While preparing to record, Creed has also been focusing on its tour, with a repertoire that will include "all the Creed songs people want to hear" as well as the new material, plus plenty of pyrotechnics.

"We're working on putting on the biggest rock show we've ever done," Stapp reports. "We're all better performers and entertainers now, and real confident in the songs. We're really excited to present where we are today and just be able to stand up and feel that we're relevant now as a band."

im in the same boat... i loved them when i was in high school and shit but since then ive listened to mostly prog rock im thinking creed might be a little boring to me now... it just depends on where they go with it.

I just can't take this band seriously because of scott stapp. I mean the guy got knocked out by SA Martinez from 311 at a bar cause he was hammered and being an arse. He tried to make a solo album that was brutal and now he needs money. The guy from alter bridge is a much better singer and thats an understatement. I think mark tremonti's a great guitarist but I just dont see this as anything more than "ok guys lets force ourselves to get along cause we're not getting any younger and we need some cash."

im just saying that i would like to see them, i hate to use the word "experiment" and creed in the same sentence but, experiment with their sound. i will be upset if full circle sounds like another creed album when everyone but stapp has grown so much as musicians since then, it would be kinda lame if they just played way below their skill level

The scenario I can imagine easiest would be, Creed put out a mediocre album, maybe one or two hits, decide they just can't do it, members focus on Alter Bridge, Stapp goes back solo, but the band maybe tour once every now and then or something.

Creed was good but Alter Bridge completly destroys them. One, Myles is a way better singer than Scott. Two, Scott was a spotlight hog and didnt let Mark solo at all. I'll support Mark & Flip & Brian doing Creed, but I'll be counting days until the Alter Bridge DVD, Myles' solo album, and the new Alter Bridge album come out. Myles said this week that they are looking at March-May 2010 for the ABIII release.

I can see Nickelback getting all this greif but Creed is on a higher(no pun intended) platform. Creed have always created melodic hard rock. It feels good that most of the teens these days who wish wash their music "tastes" with Rap/Hip Hop/Rock/Punk wouldn't listen to songs like "The Faceless Man" or "Are You Ready?" or even "Bullets". No where near as bad and as annoying as Nickelback because Nickelback try to be a Hard Rock band whereas Creed is known as a Hard Rock band. Oh well...there's no changing everyone's mind is there?

i searched on google for worst band on the planet and it says nickelback and jonas bros are the worst band in the world.....so i guess ppl should stop giving Creed the brand of Worst Band.....im a huge Alter Bridge fan and before that i was a Creed fan....im looking forward to this n i hope it'll be different than Weathered....then I'll be rocking with AB III woohoo....imagine this,Creed and AB touring together to support their albums....

This album will be just like every Creed and Alter Bridge album. Amazing rock music with horrible vocals. Miles Kennedy and Scott Stapp both have nail-on-a-chalk-board voices to me, just on opposite ends of the vocal spectrum. When Tremonti, Phillips, and Marshall release an instrumental album, or form a band that doesn't have a vocalist trying to sound like Chris Cornell or.. well, a wounded lion, they will get my $$$.

Well, as people have said before, as long as this doesn't affect Alter Bridge I'm fine with that. After all, The White Stripes and The Raconteurs can coexist, so no reason why it shouldn't be possible.

Scott Stapp is a drunken degenerate and as a person said previously, he needs money. There was an article in here around October that said Mark and co. would not reunite with Creed unless it was for world peace. Anything for a buck. I am so tired of the music industry. It's all about sounding mainstream so you can please the fans and not having the integrity to write music because you want to write music. I hope Myles doesn't leave them or something. They're due out for a new album this year anyway.

They better not just play Higher and Arms wide open on this tour, because there's just so much more to Creed than that. And please Tremonti, dont cut off parts of good songs like the intros to What If, Whats this life for and such; and I hope they'll play Say I, Pitty for a Dime, Illusion, Torn, Faceless Man, Young grow Old ... all the unheard of masterpieces.
I also hope tremonti doesnt hesitate to show what he ca do this time around, and proceed to melt some faces off

i mean alter bridge is a good band but i really like creed better because the singer of ab sounds like he got kicked in the nuts before he started singing. Everythings just too high for me

I loved Creed first, but Alter Bridge has been excellent for me too. Having them both around would be amazing. If one folds because of the other it would suck though.
