Damon Albarn is set to start work on his debut solo album, it has been reported.
The Gorilaz frontman is planning to head into the studio next year to begin work on his solo effort, reports The Sun.
A source told the newspaper: "Damon's finally ready to make a solo album after years of hiding behind cartoon band Gorillaz and working with collectives of musicians."
"He's looking forward to it and his label bosses at EMI are pleased as it's sure to sell by the bucketload.
As previously reported, Damon Albarn unveiled the first recordings from his new project Africa Express.
Albarn is currently leading a team of producers to create the album for Oxfam.
The group, DRC Music, includes Tottaly Enormous Extinict Dinosaurs, Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Jo Gunton and Kwes.
