Ex-Korn's 'Head' Plan Documentary, Debut Solo Album

Former Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has announced plans to release a documentary film, "Washed by Blood", and his debut solo album, "It's Time to See Religion Die".

According to the film's official synopsis, the "Washed By Blood" story, in a nutshell, "is the unraveling of the man, 'Head', as well as the unraveling of a culture. Head is the multi-platinum winning rock star who takes us on a roller coaster ride to the heights of fame and fortune and then into the pit of hell. Through his unraveling, the true man is revealed... the father, the poet, the musician. Untangled from the encumbrances and lies of materialism, Head comes through with the faith of a child. He has experienced both the highest highs and the ultimate lows. Lows that included drug addiction, ruined relationships, failing at fatherhood. From this darkened inferno, rose a soul...a spirit...a new force...One who will now use his talent to reveal the truth. Through a combination of documentary style-footage, showing life as a recording artist, along with musically inspired dramatizations and that are shot in various formats, in combination with animated vignettes, interviews with former band members and current friends and associates; as well as travel footage from his philanthropy work in India we come to understand how one man, with personal strength and determination could crawl out from the pits of hell and aspire to rise to the heights of a new found life and a new found faith. This is the telling of one man's story, one man's journey...revealed by prophets and destined by God."

"It's Time to See Religion Die" is being recorded at the Fortitude Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. The record is a part of a multi-layered franchise consisting of a movie "Washed by Blood", the book "Head Home", 12 music videos, and a full merchandising line being planned in conjunction with his tour.

No, those things aren't artistic. If you can't see how convenient it is that his book, movie, and album release just happen to coincide with his truly artistic idea to put out a full line of Head products & apparel no amount of explaining is going to help you.

As for the people using him, that of course would be the newfound friends who saw fit to steer him towards the path of righteousness.....and paid public appearances where for a nominal fee he can tell you all about how they saved him, and if you donate just a little bit to their cause together you can make the world a better place.....and they can buy a leer jet. Holy crap, you're kidding me right, okay. Despite the fact that Head isn't even that talented a musician, he's treating his new found faith as if it's some kind of trophy or merit badge. Don't get me wrong, it's great when someone can find faith in god, or in anything for that matter, but he's acting as if his faith is some kind of great prize that he has to show off to the whole world. It seems to me that he's treating it like he's some sort of chosen profit and he has to enlighten everyone to his story. First off, Jesus didn't shun money, he understands we kind of need it to live, he shunned the rich that were unwilling to let go of their money because money is from this world and not the heavenly kingdom. He also didn't detest fame, seeing as how Jesus is pretty famous, and so is billy graham and several christian musical artists. He also doesn't detest pride, because pride is not a sin, God detests a prideful spirit. It's one thing to say, "I'm proud to be one of God's children," and another to be prideful in that someone thinks they are amazing at everything. Now, I'm not saying head isn't being prideful, we'll really have to wait and see after all this stuff comes out before it's clear, hopefully, he's just using all this to witness to people. You have to understand he has changed his entire lifestyle and that's a life-long struggle, so not everything is gonna be easy for him. This merchandising and everything was a typical thing for him a few years back, I don't think God has shown hm how to handle all this yet.

'Secular bult world' - Thats rubbish. In western society Christianity rules the roost and affects our lives day in day out, even if we dont want it to.
Examples (Im from the UK by the way):
- Shorter opening hours on a sunday...day of rest
- Hymns in school...Its official that schools have to provide a time for collective worship (the assembly)
- We officially have the title 'Church of England' (Christianity) as the dominant religion in our country

People living secular lives the way they want to have been shunnned in the past (no sex before marriage, no divorce and remarriage etc.). Increasingly we are given choice to live how we wish, and you claim its harder to grow up as a Christian. Give me a break. I study at southampton university, and the Christian Union receives more money than any other society or club, and not because they hage the highest membership. Its because they are perceived to help society the most. In fact most of their money goes to holding free BBQs, to which many students turn up (for the free food) and get preached to. Hardly a worthy cause.

Being of a certain faith, or none at all (like myself) shouldnt give anyone benefits or disadvantages in society, and we shouldnt be preached to against our will!

I'm dissapointed that someone argued using the point that "pride isn't a sin." many of the teachings of Christ were concerning the evil nature of pride. if you missed that, you are missing a big part of what Christ was about. To be honest, it does seem like he is capitalizing on his newfound faith. I think its great when people use their influence to witness to others and such, but a full line of merchanidise? it just seems like too much.

the title of the album refers to the popular christian way of thought that it is not 'being part of a religion' that is important, its a persons individual fatih and beleif that matters the most. often christian individuals do not agree with the values and views in different denominations, which are derived not from the bible and its teachings, but from tradition and human error. there are never going to be as many different denominations of the christian church as individual interpretations of the bible- hence the importance of individual relationships with God

This means that a Christian's relationship with the LORD should be just that: a relationship. Not religion. What happened 2000 years ago when Jesus died and rose again was not intended to be a new "religion" for hypocrites to hide behind and use for their crimes (the crusades, the inquisition, etc.) Jesus wanted man to have a relationship with Him as never before. The early church officials (Paul, Peter) understood this. In fact there was no Christian "religion" at that time. It was groups of people who were born again, and fulfilling the great commission to save souls daily, "such as should be saved."
So God wills that religion should die across the globe. If all religion died and the only thing left was a true relationship with Jesus... the world would be Heaven.

Roman Catholicism is only a man-made religion. Constantine saw the Christian Faith as a way to win morale and support, so he merged the "church" and the state and made it "State Religion." Thus came various false doctrines, most of which died out, excluding Roman Catholicism. What happened here was the pagan Romans became "christians" without a real experience with Christ. They couldn't let go of their heritage and they let pagan beliefs into their doctrines. Thus came polytheism in Christianity, that was NOT intended. The book of Isaiah strictly states that there is ONE LORD... not 2, 3, 4, 5 or any more. ONE. Isn't it simple enough? One = One = one = 1 = one... always. There are no "3 persons" of a "trinity." In the Word it speaks against a man with a split mind. Why would the Almighty God have a split mind?

Everyone is bitching about how he thinks he is better than everyone now that he's a Christian, but I would have to disagree. As it was mentioned by someone earlier, this is a guy who has been, as he puts it, "to the pit of hell", but by the grace of God has found his way out and can see his former mistakes. The way I see it, he is trying to stop others from taking the worng path.

well 'religion' has connotations of rules and regulations and 'u must do this, do that etc'. christianity isnt a religion. well some people treat it as one, but Jesus often spoke out against religion, so much in the gospels. basic message: step out of the restrictions of religion and just have a relationship with God. basically, and thats possible through his blood.

as for brian 'selling himself', i dont think so, he's trying to show people on a large scale of what has happened to him, i mean since he was already kindof a celebrity, he could do that.
take for example rage against the machine: they clearly disapprove with the state of capitalism in the modern age, and the media, and so they disaprove of stuff like music television and the industry, and yet they have videos on music television. some guy interviewed tom morello about that, and he said that its still a good way to reach out, and they wouldnt have their popularity if they didnt use that medium.

Well your right this isn't a religion thread but I just want to ask what you were trying to say...are you trying to imply that the church thinks the trinity means 3 different beings?....cause if you were, the trinity is actually one, the 3 are unified in one god...good job on your history of the church...it was quite accurate..I did religion studies all year and you were bang on with your facts.....about Head, I dont think he is trying to be righteous or selfish in all of this...I just think he is using his power that he has in the pop media to spread his beliefs...which is what ALL bands do...so people, quit knocking him just cause his point of view is different than yours.

No, I'm not 14 years old, and I do know what I'm talking about, I am a born again Christian, and I AM NOT A FAN OF KORN, I just saw this on the front page and clicked on it. Some of you here are intellegiant, but I can tell you truly don't know what it feels like to be a Christian. It's an awesome thing to know you will never go back to doing drugs and other evil things, its great to know you are going to heaven, all Head is doing is expressing his faith, he is trying to lead people to Jesus through his music, his merchandise, what he is doing is called a ministry, and to run a ministry you have to have money, hence why he is selling music and merchandise.

Every religion is man-made, and whether you like it or not, Christianity is a religion. Just because Jesus wasn't trying to start a religion doesn't mean that he didn't. And Christianity is a polytheism for two reasons. One: the obvious reason of the trinity. Even though they are supposed to be "one being", there are still three gods. Hibduism is the same way, and it's considered a polytheism. Two: the less obvious reason that Satan, whether worshipped or not, is still a deity. Christianity is a polythieistic religion, guys. Get over it.

Dude everything christianity is about is a load of crap. Every single religion is exactly the same. You can check the facts yourself. Head is a total idiot. The first thing he said in the interview in guitar world was "In the name of god, i bypass my body and let you speak for me" hes gone nuts. Its either a publicity stunt or hes completly lost it. And explain one thing, to all christians or catholics etc. who wear a cross? explain it. its to symbolise how your lord died you say? ok, if your friend was shot with a 44 magnum, would u wear a little magnum around ur neck? and if the bible says "thou shalt not make idols of worship" explain all the crusifixes and statues of jesus.

I respect Head and understand his departure from KoRn and everything but...a movie, a book, 12 music videos, AND a full merchandising line?!?! What is this?! I'm not religious or anything but wouldn't just a CD and a few music videos do? 50 Cent (ewww) basically did the same thing with his G-Unit crap: A crappy movie, a lot of videos, a horrible game and a whole line of merchandise, from clothes to water! What I don't understand is why Head is "following" in 50's footsteps by making so much stuff. I probably won't buy the album but I'll probably borrow it from a friend or something. The movie sounds interesting though. As long as it's not an exagerated bio-pic like 50's junk. But the merchandise line is a little too much.

Not necessarily. He is trying to teach. Just because he is in it, doesnt mean he is trying to be famous. If that was the case, then you might as well call jesus a hypocrite for appearing in the Bible, which by the way is the #1 selling book in the world + The "Passion of Christ".
