The Flaming Lips will include blood from their collaborators as part of Record Store Day this year.
Frontman Wayne Coyne says he's been collecting vials from the likes of Ke$ha, Bon Iver, Nick Cave, Coldplay and Lightening Bolt, though it's not clear who has taken part with his creepy plan so far.
"I’m going to try to make a record that has every person’s blood in the record," Coyne told MTV Hive. "I don’t have everybody’s blood just yet, but I collected quite a few vials of blood and it’s actually sitting in my refrigerator as we speak."
Coyne says their blood will help form a limited-edition picture disk, "
like a glass specimen." Only five or six of these disks will be made.
"You don’t really realize how many people are afraid of needles until you say, 'Hey, I’m going to send someone by the show tonight to get some of your blood,'" he added.
