Foreigner will release "Feels Like The First Time", a new 3-disc set featuring the band’s classics in three different versions.
The first disc, "Acoustique: The Classics Unplugged", is pretty much self-explanatory, as the band reissues their hits recorded in an acoustic setting.
"My feeling over the years is that if you can write a song on an acoustic instrument, and it sounds good, you know you have a good song", Foreigner guitarist and founder Mick Jones explains. "The first time we approached these songs this way, I was flabbergasted about how well they adapted back to their nucleus. It’s been an eye opener how stripping the songs bare brings fresh meaning and emotion out of them."
The title of the second disc, "
Juke Box Heroes: Brand New Digital Recordings Of Foreigner's Greatest", pretty much says it all. Since current vocalist
Kelly Hansen sounds just like original singer
Lou Gramm, it will be interesting to see how these new versions sound compared to the original releases, which were outstanding on their own. The band has also included a new single, "
Save Me", co-written with Jones' step-daughter and club DJ,
Samantha Ronson.
And disc three is the DVD, "Live In Chicago", featuring the band recorded in concert in the Windy City. The material will air on PBS through August and into the fall as part of the Public Television Rocks series.
The band's reps have done a deal for "Feels Like The First Time" so that it will be available exclusively via Walmart.
For fans looking to pick up only "Acoustique", it will available on September 13th through Razor & Tie as a disc and digital download, as well as its inclusion in the 3-disc set.
Foreigner are currently on tour with Journey and Night Ranger across North America.
