Foxboro Hot Tubs Release New Single

artist: foxboro hot tubs date: 04/01/2008 category: upcoming releases
Foxboro Hot Tubs Release New Single

A new single from a band that is reportedly Green Day's side project has appeared online.

'The Pedestrian' by Foxboro Hot Tubs is currently available for download from Foxborohottubs.com. A snippet of the song is also streaming from their MySpace page.

The single appears on the project's album, 'Stop Drop And Roll', which is currently available as a download.

The music has a 1960s flavour and the album cover features several women showing off 1960s-style dance moves. The back cover of the album contains the following tracklisting:

01. Stop Drop And Roll
02. Mother Mary
03. Ruby Room
04. Red Tide
05. Highway 1
06. She's A Saint Not A Celebrity
07. Sally
08. Alligator
09. The Pedestrian
10. 27th Ave. Shuffle
11. Dark Side Of Night
12. Pieces Of Truth

The project is not the first time Green Day have performed under alias, having also released songs as a masked rock band called The Network.

Already knowing this was about Green Day's side project, I was really hoping it was another April Fool's joke.

I can never say it enough about this band: POMPOUS SELL OUTS!!!

eh, sometimes after you have proven something to yourself you can sell out. I havent done it, and will not, but I see where bands like green day and RHCP and more are coming from.

but still - this band makes bad music.

maybe theyre trying to get back a little bit of cred by not throwing the green day name around with this group? it doesnt help that BJA sounds exactly the same every time he opens his mouth though.

why call ur band another name and release a cd? that doesnt make any sense to me. maybe if they changed the band a little.

connorlawhorne :
They did change the band, foxboro has a distinct 60's garage throwback sound. This is something Greenday does incorporate, but that band also has a lot more as far as inspiration goes. A lot of bands do this when they feel some new material doesn't really fit with the band they have. For example, Tom Delonge/Travis Barker, in Boxcar Racer, though that wasn't the entire band, still the same deal there.

There's been a lot of activity lately on their myspace, my guess it will be released on April 6th, Adrienne Armstrongs birthday.

To create and release music that lies outside the expectations that people have for your typical Green Day record.. U2 did the same thing. They released a record called 'Original Soundtracks 1' under the name Passengers in 1995. Purely to be experimental and different without getting people all up in a bunch about U2 "changing directions" (Although their 'Pop' record would follow in '97.. so they kind of were changing directions...)

no problem with green day, just don't care for them

its so obvious these guys are greenday, they should've just self released it with no hype, if it does well, it means they've got real skill.

If they're not Green Day, then their singer sounds REMARKABLY like Billy Joe...

how the hell can this be an apri lfool's joke? This band came out awhile ago and they're offering a song to download. there's n0 joke here, guys

Anonymouslyours :
Okay.. don't even bother question if it's Green Day or not... if it wasn't, don't you think these guys would come out and say "we are not green day" or something?
As for all you asking "why have another band", well it's simple. They probably wanted to release some songs in another direction from Green Day, so they can avoid all the junk about changing musical direction. I actually like this project better than Green Day itself.

if they were sellouts why would they be doing a completely underground project under an assumed alias?

i give them props for doing something original and different from GD.

Green Day used to be way cool but honestly I don't care for American Idiot. I miss their old sound especially Dookie and Nimrod and Insomniac. Warning was awesome too and I liked some of Shenanigans.
I do also like the Foxboro Hottubs band, I think that's pretty cool sounding.

I think people are terrified to admit to liking something moderately 'mainstream'. Why don't people just grow up and accept that good music is good music?
I got the 1st 6 tracks in Nov last year and love it.
And as if this is not Green Day!!! You must be joking there is no doubt.

Dude, GreenDay should just stop, and f*ck off... I'm so tired of their new shit that I wish I had sniper rifle, Goddamn... I like theํr old shit, like, Basket Case, Longview, and Brain Stew... I like that, but the new shit just sucks, and Billy Joe Armstrong can go with the rest of the band and make-out with them again... F*cking faggot... And STEALmyDog, if you ever bash Metallica again, I will *bash* your f*cking face in... in the mosh pit, at a Metallica concert, with the help of the 100,000 fans there at the concert with me... Goddamn!!! Later...
