Franz Ferdinand Finish New Music

Franz Ferdinand have finished up work on their new album untitled album, the third one for the band. Frontman Alex Kapranos told Billboard.com when they started recording that "The idea of making a dirty pop record - this is what has been on our minds."

Kapranos went on further to explain "It's the opposite of punk/pop, which took something that was wonderful and removed all the dirt. The approach is best-heard on 'Ride Together,’ a full-on upbeat, riding across the desert rock song. A lot of the other stuff is more rhythm- and dance-based."

The band told the BBC recently after finishing recording the album; "The last record was fast, furious, frantic, 150 beats per minute," said front man Alex Kapranos. "It was like a teenager having sex. This one's a bit more assured and a bit friendlier for the dance floor. It's about 104/105bpm. It does sound different, and there are different instruments on the record, different tempos, a different attitude to making it. But it's always going to sound like a Franz Ferdinand record when it's the four of us making it. It's very much a dance record again this time."

Before hitting the studio Franz Ferdinand demoed the material in Glasgow. After test out the songs live they were planning on recording in a stat of the art studio in London. But after trial sessions there, "we decided the ones we did in Glasgow sounded much better," according to Kapranos. "There was a real dirtiness, edge and attitude."

"We've decided we're going to do it up here, ourselves," he continues. "It's funny, because logically everything is wrong. We should go to a big studio and spend millions. But logic is never appropriate when you're making music. You've gotta trust your instincts. This stuff made us want to get up and dance."

As of yet there is official release date other than early 2009.

Thanks for the info to KROQ.com.

"Franz Ferdinand have finished up work on their new album untitled album..."

Grammar check, broham. Unless the album's title is 'untitled album'.

"As of yet there is official release date other than early 2009."

Do you mean no official release date, or should we expect the album to release any time that doesn't take place in early 2009?

the general grammar of UG articles keeps getting worse and worse...

but on the topic, i don't understand why FF put stress so much that this will be more dance-oriented. the guys are good musicians... why should all this fast tempo and being dancefloor-friendly matter so much to them?

Best pop band of the 21st century? I think so. Release it already, you artsy puffs.

because the guys set out to make music you could dance to, for their friends...

they've always been dance orientated.

This article is absolutely awful, it's riddled with errors. "A stat of the art recording studio"???

And the less said about the first sentence the better, what retard wrote this?
