Franz Ferdinand To Release Several New Albums?

Franz Ferdinand are struggling to decide on the direction of their new album and they have recorded so many different styles of songs, they could record several albums instead of just one.

"We have like 15 songs and there won't be 15 on the album, so we have potentially four different albums," drummer Paul Thomson told the Daily Star. "There's no track listing yet as we can't decide. There's four, five or six albums, depending which tracks we use. Many different combinations would make different types of albums."

When asked about how Franz Ferdinand would release the record, Thomson pointed out the band had no desire to release any free songs.

"We still think in terms of albums. Although, people who buy music probably still think less like that than they have done just because of the culture of downloading songs." Added Thomson "I don't feel we have competition at the moment, we are a bit out of the loop."

The group recently revealed they are getting more "wild" and "experimental" on their third long-player.

30 songs wouldn't make four completely separate albums. I think they mean albums across which some songs appear several times and some songs only once or twice. I doubt very much that they will actually release more than one album. Probably just the usual deluxe version and/or b-sides to singles

I think they mean that the 15 songs are so different that it depends on which songs they put on the album how the album will sound like. So if they put it like the one way it sounds a bit more psychedelic and if they list them that way it becomes a punk album or stuff I don`t know

Why don't they just put all kinds of songs into one album but keep it to the 15 best? I can't see the harm in an album full of songs that don't sound like each other.

Sorry if i miss read it but 15 songs?..thats an album! and if their very different..heres an idea..post them on your website and then let fans download the tracks they like, I'd rather pay $1 for 1 or 2 tracks i like then download a complete album for free, just so I can listen to the 1 or 2 tracks I like.

It doesn't mean 4 separate albums or EPs or whatever- it means there are 4 members who all have their ideas about which of the 15 songs they would put on the album. Obviously they will eventually come to a collective decision about which songs will make the final album and will release 1 album.

Not to start a completely new debate, I do generally enjoy the music of Franz Ferdinand and its nice to hear that they are making an effort to please fans and hopefully gain some new ones along the way.

anyway, I hope they release it sometime soon. I don't like their most recent one much, but their first one had some amazing songs.
