Franz Ferdinand bass player Bob Hardy is set to sing on the band’s forthcoming album. The group will begin recording in March, and aim to release the follow-up to last year’s self-titled debut at the end of the summer.
Singer Alex Kapranos said: "We start recording in March and that shouldn't take more than two weeks. It should be released maybe late summer or early autumn." The star has also revealed that one new track has been written for Hardy to sing, called ’I’ve Got Ten Pounds’.
He told The Guardian: "I used to really love it on the old Beatles records where you had a track that was like, Ringo sings! But he's been refusing to have anything to do with this really stupid idea of mine, so it probably won't make the record."

: A ripoff of MM? I don't hear much of a resemblance. A bit of culture clash, maybe? I like Franz, and I like how they incorporate artwork into their videos.POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 03:19 pm / quote |

Funkmaster45
: In no way shape or form is Franz Ferdinand ANYTHING LIKE Modest Mouse, except that they both became popular in the same year. Modest Mouse is an amazing philosophical southern band who specialize in down-to-earth songs about life and death, while Franz is a good electronic rock-type thing type thing specializing in glitz and dance songs. Where is there any resemblance at all? Float on might be a smidge similar to Franz's style, but Modest Mouse doesn't have a song even remotely similar to that in their entire repertoire.POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 04:08 pm / quote |
chaospunxunite
: sorry, i think franz ferdinand is so much better than modest mouse. FF has more political themes to it, and MM is more emo and pop.POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 04:45 pm / quote |

: lol didnt FF come out before MM? oh well, FF is wayyy better and have way better songs. I'm looking forward to the next album. Has anyone else noticed the rather homosexual lyrics in MIchael?POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 04:52 pm / quote |

Haha, Modest Mouse released their first major recording in 1994, FF became a band in late 2001. You're almost 7 years off. As for MM being emo...uhm. No. If we even have to deign to putting two bands who transcend genres into solid categories, Franz and the Mouse can both be considered pop since they're both...duh...popular now. Classifying them as pop though...I don't know, the vast majority of MM's older songs would never even be considered to be put on the radio and 2/3 of Good News isn't radio friendly. I'd say Franz has a lot more poppy songs than MM.POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 06:09 pm / quote |

: Yea it's really pissing me off how many stupid people there are who say that Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand are the same band when they haven't even heard anything beyond Mouse's new material.POSTED: 01/10/2005 - 06:13 pm / quote |

Did you not read anything above!? MM has been on the scene way longer that FF. Only one idiot accused them of being a rip off because he doesn't know anything about either bands. There's no need to contradict the trush just to prove him wrong. Thats like saying Breaking Benjamin has been around longer than KoRn.POSTED: 01/11/2005 - 01:44 am / quote |
