Gene Simmons' 'Asshole' Delayed Until May

Simmons Records/Sanctuary Music Group has pushed back the release date of Gene Simmons' highly anticipated sophomore solo album, "Asshole", to May 18 from the previously announced April 20. The title track, "Asshole", will be the first single released to rock radio on April 15.

Like his 1978 self-titled solo album, "Asshole" features a number of outside songwriting contributions and guest appearances. Bob Dylan and Gene co-wrote the album's "Waiting For The Morning Light". Frank Zappa and Gene share co-writing credit on "Black Tongue" and the Zappa Family, Dweezil, Ahmet, Moon, Gail and Frank Zappa himself sing and play guitar on the song. Other guests featured on the album include Dave Navarro, ex-Kiss members Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer, new Simmons Records/Sanctuary Music Group signing BAG, as well as Gene's longtime live-in Shannon Tweed and their two children, Sophie and Nicholas.

The only reason that I am really buying the album is because of the other artists that are performing on it. I got into KISS when I saw an 8 second snipet of a TIME-LIFE commercial for 70s rock, at that time I had only heard Ozzy Osbourne and a little about Alice Cooper, this was in 1993. My emotions were completely in awe, that there lived a band before my time that sung about sex and partying whereas everything else was about drugs and such. Honestly I never new what to expect, because in this waning period in my life growing up music was in a great transitional stage between 80s hair bands, new wave, grunge and pop. Of pop there was only Michael Jackson and George Michael, and the only thing closet to Rock/Metal was Guns N Roses and maybe Stone Temple Pilots. So KISS was very different, out of this world, as a fan of just what I could see from vintage t shirts and maybe if I was lucky something like an LP or trading cards, just about anything from their initial hey-day was very captivating. I guess you can say after they got back together in 1995 for unplugged I still kinda hoped that they would put the makeup and costumes back on. When they did in 1996 it was not so much of a cultural shock as you might think that it was, though it was the first rock concert I ever went to alone without my parents. (because my dads generation was Woodstock, and my mom Alice Cooper) I did enjoy it, but then like I said it was great to have closure, it became to much, I hadn't known ANYBODY that had even liked them, I was allowed to get carried away with the makeup and costumes (my favorite is still Gene) By 1998 everything had the name KISS on it, and though by this time I was a freak, I only spent my money on things commemorative to their original history, something very mystical about a band you don't get to see or hear about. It was surprising to learn that after all that Gene Simmons was the bad guy in Runaway, one of my favorite sci-fi films as a child. Gene has had a lot of influence over this 23 year old. Since I learned that he doesn't commit to anything unless he is 100% sure of himself that things work themselves out the way he sets them out to. I think he deserves everything he has gotten because he chalks it up to strong will and hard work and reminds us though he isn't even a naturally born American that yes you can have it too.. but you have to sure know something of what you want. By the way, if it weren't for Gene Simmons, I wouldn't have been emulating him with my tongue, hence I wouldn't have learned what it was good for and would never have lost my virginity when I did for many a night have been able to enjoy these pleasures as much when I am able to flaunt my sexuality.
