Green Day Set Next 'Breakdown' Video

Green Day announced on their official website that the next single off 21st Century Breakdown will be the album’s title track. For the music video, the band — who you can see next week performing on the MTV Video Music Awards — will once again team with director Marc Webb, who previously helmed the bullet-ridden "21 Guns" clip. The single is expected within the next month.

In other Green Day news, the response for the band’s American Idiot musical at California’s Berkley Rep has been so great that the show has already been extended before its debut performance. American Idiot was originally supposed to run through October 11th, but record box office sales and an "unprecedented demand for seats" led producers to extend the run through November 1st. The stage show borrows its narrative from Green Day’s Grammy-winning 2004 masterpiece American Idiot and spice things up with a handful of songs from 21st Century Breakdown.

I think East Jesus Nowhere will be one of the singles, because they're playing it every night live. And this is old news by the way, it's been on the Green Day website for ages.

They're getting eff-all response this time around for the latest album. Nobody wants to know, and it seems that around here peoples' tastes are just getting worse =/. Releasing this single probably won't turn many heads

I am really looking forward to the next video, I do like that song. Nut I agree, East Jesus Nowhere is definately worth being a single, and I think that maybe a Double A side of Viva La Gloria/Christian's Inferno would be cool too.
As for the comments saying that liking Green Day is bad taste, I laugh at them for confusing their opinion with fact.

Know Your Enemy should probably have never existed. I do quite like it but it serves no purpose other than being radio friendly.

In defence of Green Day, I think the record label are the ones who choose the singles. And if not the singles they certainly choose how many they release.

Maybe not Cristian's Inferno. But Viva La Gloria could be a single (although EJN and Restless Heart Syndrome are more likely singles). Murder City would be good too.

Well, seeing as Billie Joe part owns Adeline Records - I dont see why they havent already. But again, I didnt care much for this album. I didnt like what American Idiot stood for as an album, and what it was to them...but musically and structurally it was brilliant. The same cannot be said of Breakdown, its just a general disappointment. Which is sad, because I've been a GD fan for over a decade now and up until Warning they were amazing. Now they have progressed too much, too quickly in the wrong direction. But whatever makes them happy, its up to them - not the whiny ass fans like me and you

IMO, this entire album is shit. American Idiot had a few good songs, but this is total garbage. No offence to it's fans of course. I loved everything up till AI. But in Guitar World, Billy Joe said the next album would be similar to the old punk stuff. Nice.

Anyone think theyre trying to do the same thing with American Idiot? Release the crappy-worst-song-on-the-album-radio-freindly song first (American Idiot/Know Your Enemy), then the sad song that 12 year olds will slit their wrists to (Boulevard of Broken Dreams/21 Guns.. those songs are ok though)second then the best song / long ass song on the album (Jesus of Suburbia/21st Century Breakdown) Following that pattern, Wake Me Up When September Ends would be equal to Restless Heart Syndrom or Last Night on Earth. I'm predicting one of those to grab that spot. East Jesus Nowhere, the Viva la Glorias and the title track are best IMO.

They'll never go independent now. They've complained too much about how all the trupunx kids gave them shit for signing to a major label in the first place.

Also, I like the album and many of its songs, but I've noticed that, apart from the two singles already out, none of them are likely to do well on radio. I mean, for example, Peacemaker ****ing kicks ass, but it's probably too raw for radio.

I hope American Eulogy gets to be a single; I know it has some repetitive parts (like the "I don't wanna live in the modern world" part), but most of the verses are awesome (maybe the best verses of the album?), and I wanna see a single/video where Mike sings.

American Eulogy/ Viva La Gloria (not little girl) were easily the best off the album, i was expecting them to release Gloria by now... American Eulogy's verses where mike sings are so awesome though.

Look, people have their opinions and people like this new album. I personally think some of it sounds too much like American Idiot and some of their older stuff, but that's just me. And people, let them release a single, it's only a song.

Viva la Gloria could be a single, but I'm thinking that Green Day will stick to songs that aren't strictly for the plot of their album, like they have so far (all songs can stand alone). They tried that with Jesus of Suburbia, and although it's one of my favorite songs off of American Idiot, it didn't exactly do too well.

My picks for the final two singles are East Jesus Nowhere and either Restless Heart Syndrome or Static Age, leaning towards RHS. The Static Age is really good live, but not so much on the record, so that's why I'm leaning towards RHS.

I've got the international superhits album, but nothing else, i can't stand american idiot, and i saw some videos from the new album, and i thought "No... just no". They don't even show the 2nd guitarist on the "solo" part, i felt pretty bad for him, you have to look at billie joe and his gay hair instead! Greed Day more like.

you got to admit american idiot, they kicked ass, every song was great, not like old green day which most of us like, but still damn good. 21st century breakdown, i think they had the same rhythm through a bunch of the songs but it still sounded great. Peacemaker is sick, american eulogy has a bunch of different parts, and my favortie horseshoes and hand grenades. heavy and billie joe screaming is ****ing awesome.
