Guitar Hero 5 Adds 'Teen Spirit', Killers, Raconteurs To Track List

Nirvana’s "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is finally coming to the Guitar Hero franchise, bringing along with it Queen & David Bowie’s "Under Pressure," Dire Straits’ "Sultans Of Swing," the Raconteurs’ "Steady As She Goes" and 11 more tracks to round out the massive and eclectic GH5 on-disc 85-song track list.

Rolling Stone confirm that also joining the party are Johnny Cash’s "Ring Of Fire," Megadeth’s "Sweating Bullets," Blink-182’s "The Rock Show" and TV On The Radio’s "Wolf Like Me." But the real coup here is "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which will join a live version of Nirvana’s "Lithium" in making their music video game debuts. As Rock Daily reported, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Beck, the White Stripes and countless more will also be on the disc when GH5 is released on September 1st.

Once again, not a great set list imo. Most people will only find that they like about 10 songs on this game.
I think they should let you choose which songs you want in the game, like say you could buy the game and it would have a code for downloading songs, but there would be a limit that the code would reach, like say 95 songs? Or however many is usually in the game.

i'm gonna have to disagree with alot of naysayers here. it may be because of their depth in music taste and knowledge, but there are alot of good old classics here that most new people out there wouldn't really know about unless a game like this gave them exposure to it. so two ways to look at this. first; this edition of gh looks like a good throwback for fans of old with some tasteful modern sounds here, second; this is a little lesson in music history for all the little kids who are missing out on the better of the passed century's music.
ps. i'm very surprised to see a hard jimmy eat world song on guitar hero. trust me bleed american is not a whiney song.

Enough with the hate. It's a game. I started playing guitar before Guitar Hero II, and that game simply opened my eyes to new artists. Yes, I've been open enough to check out multiple songs by the artists I have enjoyed in Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

You wouldn't tell a person who plays Madden to play real football, or "stop saying you like this team because you saw them on Madden." Rarely is that the case with games. I fail to see why this one is so much different. It's a fun game that none of us serious players take too seriously. (Oxymoron? Mayhaps.)

No, the bands need to stop giving their music to guitar hero. I'm glad Teen Spirit's on there because it has already been run into the ground. In my honest opinion, the Guitar Hero franchise was over with 3. 1 and 2 had some awesome songs and made craploads of money without needing shit songs to appeal to everyone but 4 and 5 are just terrible and even the graphics and visual motifs just suck or are incredibly cliche. Guitar Hero 3 was good but after that it just went completely downhill.

Harmonix however has since then made Rock Band which is an awesome game, introduced the full band and had a long list of epic songs with very little filler. Even since then they have released a sequel which was undoubtably more kickass than the original. Also Rock Band has an epicly long list of downloadable content that has songs to appeal to everyone, whether you like the original game or not. Guitar Hero's just sucks in comparison

It's a shame that the GH franchise sucks so much now because admittedly when i was starting out my search as a beginning music fan i found many awesome bands through many awesome songs and i guess it probably influenced my interest in guitar and music. Harmonix didn't always end up choosing the biggest hits but they were still the best too. If i had first bought GH4 instead of GH2 i probably would have ended up playing the fucking french horn instead.

Yeah super excited for this but not just for the songs but the new gameplay features such as jump in jump out, ability to have 4 guitars at same time or 4 drummers, its fun having a duel with a friend on the guitar but do it on the drums is gonna even better. I think problem with the songs is they pick the right artists just not the right songs, and this comes down to a few factors, like for nirvana, great song, but for guitar hero i think it will be a fun song to play, not a technical song so it wont be hard, its usually what most teens play as their first song on a electric guitar so its not gonna be hard on gh and so kinda wish that if they were going to bring nirvana out or any other new bands onto gh, that they would give you the choice of being able to download the other songs from the band. Another good example would be Muse, i wish they would bring stockholm syndrome as a download, it was a download for gh3 but it would be awesome for the drums and bass, plug in baby is a awesome song but i feel there are way better choices for guitar hero and why i say of giving the option to download their other songs. For instance can download In flames song Disconnected, awesome song, great for guitar and drums but why just that song, I'm the Highway would be Perfect for Guitar Hero.

eh, i used to play guitar hero back when gh2 came out. i spent alot of nights up with my friends playin it. it was cool as a game, but when people thought being really good at it ment you could actually play the songs in real life and acted like they were in a real band it got really annoying. it is a fun game though.

Deadbolt, Sowing Season, Demon(s), Bleed American, Blue Orchid,and Judith are gonna make this game. for me anyway, and hell even Feel Good Inc. will be fun to play. Haven't heard about 50% of the set list, so this is a good way for me to find some good music. GHII turned me on to some great music and bands that i still listen to today. hopefully this guitar hero will do the same.

i dont care what anyone says this set list is the best i've seen since GH3. GHI and II both had the best set lists, which is why i bought smash hits.

World tour had the 3 tool songs, At the drive-in, The Mars Volta, Rise Against.....and that was pretty much all i really liked. oh and Foo Fighters.

Im only 18, so throughout the Guitar Hero franchise i must be one of the "kids" which frequently come up in the comments. I like the game, and get a lot out of hearing music id never have heard before, which then leads me to discovering more songs by the bands, so for me, its opened many musical doors, that were shut before.

Having seen the ideas about the download thing, or the seperate genre games, i think these are very worthy of guitar hero's team to think about, and maybe some people should try to put these to the guys that make the game.

Ill probably buy this game, as its got a few songs i really like on it, and a lot more ive only heard a few times and enjoyed, so hopefully this one does the same for me, as the others did.
