Guitar Hero III Confirms Track Listing

The final tracklisting has been announced for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, the second sequel in the wildly successful Guitar Hero series.

The game is due out before March 2008 and is set to include artists like Dead Kennedys, Bloc Party, Matchbook Romance,Social Distortion, AFI, Weezer, Beastie Boys, Slayer, Queens Of The Stone Age, Dragonforce, The Strokes, Muse, Tenancious D, Smashing Pumpkins and Iron Maiden.

Well...let me be the first to say that this Guitar Hero has the most variety on it and looks to hold more potential than the past ones.

Guitar Hero has to appeal to mass audiences and not just one demographic. Just because you see AFI on there along with Maiden and Slayer doesn't mean a damn thing. They do this because not everybody likes the same music but people love the game concept so they put songs on there that range musically wise so it appeals to a bigger crowd.

Get over the fact that so and so is on there and another band isn't. The other ones were the same way and they both have critical acclaim and I'm sure this one will too. I'm damn sure that once everybody starts playing no ones really going to care about the songs on there...they're just going to play the songs they like.

On the past GH games, before the song starts you see at the top of your screen "Song Title/as made famous by".

The majority of songs (if not all of them) were covers on GH1 and maybe half on GH2. They said they were trying to get mastered tracks on GH3 instead of doing the covers and it looks like they succeeded.

Man, great list, but no Vai, Satriani or Malmsteen? those guys are the real, living guitar heros? No Zeppelin, AC/DC or Dream Theatre? those are the bands that could give you some of the best guitar tracks, maybe some Paul Gilbert stuff. Has Jimi Hendrix been on a GH game before? if not they need to put him in there too.

Anyway, this is shaping up to be a really fun game, if anything because of all the greats like Maiden, Rolling Stones, Muse, Sabbath, RHCP, VR, Aerosmith, RATM, Dragonforce, Slayer, GNR, The Who, Strokes, Tenacious D, Scorps and the international bands like Heroes Del Silencio and Die Toten Hosen

Shocore (Vancouver band) does a hard-rock/metalish cover of Devil went down to Georgia and it's such a perfect song for that genre.... it'll work

Well Megadeth has been on the past 2 GH FULL games (expansion packs don't count), so I think they needed to rest on that a little bit. I agree whole heartedly with the Vai, Malmsteem, and Satriani sentiments. they should throw Paul Gilbert into the mix too. And just for kicks, they should have some Al Di Meola...that guy can seriously trem. pick like no one's business. Zakk Wylde is even compared to him, for those that don't know...and not the other way around. But Wylde rocks, nuff said.

I'm anxious to see the new stuff, and I can't wait to hear some of the bonus tracks. Maybe more Hendrix and some of the classic stuff is in due.

And to the haters of guitar hero...get a life. It's just a damn game, that's all. If chicks dig guys that can play GH, fine. But they really care about the real guitar playing dudes more, so its a win-win for real guitarists. besides, GH can be a speed trainer for your left hand fingers. I know I can move them faster from playing GH...doesn't compare to practicing on a real guitar, by a long shot. well, you can make your own songs, via a modded PS2. OR, you can find the free game Frets on Fire, which has you play with a keyboard. BUT, if you have an Xbox 360 controller, just plug it in the USB port of your computer, config the buttons to work with it, and you are set. I rock out to Enter Sandman and Smells like Teen Spirit like that. With FoF, you can also rock out to songs on GH1 and 2, the 80's one (I think). Just have to burn them to the computer...it's a process you can find online. But its a free game, and I don't mind it...the interface is just hard to read, and if slows up any, you are screwed, since you'll miss some notes. But if you don't like the set list, you can make your own on there. But I hear it takes a LOT of time to do, so unless you are an average guitarist/musician that is lazy unless called upon, you shouldn't try it at home or anywhere.

Wow..awesome tracklist. Having Maiden, Metallica, Bloc Party, Qotsa, Preistess, the Strokes, GnR, and SRV on the same game is awesome. This is definately an improvement over the 1st one, which was mainly classic rock. Its good to see some not so mainstream bands like Qotsa and Preistess and Bloc Party up there with the more popular bands. IMO, Josh Homme is just as good as some1 like Dan Donegan technically, but surpass many bands in his originality and style.

Even if u dont like some of the modern bands, it couldve been worse. Thank goodness they didnt put FOB or Panic! on this game. it might not be awesome, but it could be worse.

I don't like GH at all. The song list isn't real great I don't think. Where's Megadeth, some more Anthrax and A7X, and YNGWIE. At least they're putting on some older ZZ Top. This statement will make people hate me, but I love this game in one way. I played HAPPY BIRTHDAY at a party one time and people practically praised me. They loved it when I played Beast and The Harlot.

I looked at it, and I was like "Some of these wont be in the game" then today, I went to go see news on it, and sure enough, songs that were on that page, were announced (I kinda half expected Devil Went Down to Georgia to be in the game) anyway, you can choose to believe me (or the site itself) or not

This is a pretty decent list. Some of the song choices are questionable. Why is Cities on Fire... there but NOT Don't Fear the Reaper? Paint It, Black's main riff is done with a sitar, how is this going to translate to Guitar Hero? And if you're gonna do The Who, at least do The Who right and put Pinball Wizard or something. I also do not see why we need YET ANOTHER Black Sabbath song, no matter how good it is.

But I'm very pleased to see Even Flow, My Name Is Jonas, Barracuda, Anarchy in the UK, Welcome to the Jungle and some of the other classics in this game. And dude, SANTANA is in the game! How much better can it get?

Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Eric Johnson, Guns N'Roses, In Flames, Metallica, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Velvet Revolver are the only ones I really like. I thought this was legends of rock? I'm seeing alot of names on there that are not "legends" of anything. Track list still looks better than 2 though, so I can't complain too much. Also, they should've got 2 Minutes to Midnight instead of Number of the Beast.

And as for the songs, did the thought occur to you that maybe those were the only songs by the bands in question that they were able to obtain rights to? I'm a major metal fan, but i'm not so narrow minded as to think that everything not metal is crap...i'm no fan of the killers, but i'm pretty sure their song will be just as fun to play in expert as the rest

Pantera was in the first one, Megadeth was in both previsous releases. Just because they are not in here doesn't mean this is a shit list. GH can't be 100% Metal, hell not even 50%, or 30.

Now its not fair to complain there is no metal. I mean I would ove it severly and would never put the game down, but Guitar Hero has to appeal to more than one crowd. I played and beat this game on all difficulties in the first 3 days I had it and I find the game very enjoyable even with songs I hate, but I won't crucify the game for not having my fav. band in it. In my personal opinion a certain pack for metal, punk, etc. would be a fantastic idea, but get real. A big title release should have a diverse list. And its better than previous lits so they're getting better.
