Guitar Hero: World Tour Announces Final Track List

Developers Neversoft recently released the final track listing for the much anticipated Guitar Hero: World Tour, which is scheduled to be released on October 26th. The game will see the addition of drum and vocal peripherals along with the standard guitar and bass set-up.

The following 86 songs will come packaged in the retail version of the game:

Along with the songs mentioned above, Guitar Hero: World Tour will also support downloadable content in the form of additional songs and albums, such as Metallica's "Death Magnetic" which is already available for download for Guitar Hero 3 and is forwards-compatible with World Tour. The game will also feature virtual appearances by real-life musicians such as Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent, who will act as boss characters the player must duel during the game's tour mode.

In other news, rival music-game Rock Band 2 was released for the Xbox 360 on September 14th.

It's an alright list, but is there really any need for THREE Tool songs when groups like The Doors are only getting one?

Also, the main kicker is, even if this song list was flawless, this new GH game is going to be having all the extra instruments ala Rock Band, so huge price tag (no game should cost £150+), and it's no longer going to be much geared towards solo play, so unless you like online (heavy lag) or you can get enough people around to play with you (possible for most people but hard to organise on a whim or regularly, stunting the time you can viably play the game), it's going to be pretty dull.

Tool, korn and dream theater! I think world tour may just become a smash hit. it is a disappointment however that they did not include artists like marylin manson, or the new slipknot. but deathmagnetic is a reasonable substitute. At the moment, I'm pondering on how difficult it's gonna be when they add the new drum sections.

What bothers me isn't the geeks who think there's any credibility in being able to play whatever song on whatever level, but the fact that anytime now people will be so fed up with guitars that us real guitarists will be seen as total has-beens when the fad is over and the thing that's been getting us laid for 40 years will lose it's powers. That'll suck. Trends always go from one extreme from the other, so seeing as how guitar-oriented music is relatively popular now, the next big thing will probably be Eurotrance or something like that...

Well the way I look at it is that Rock Band 2 has a better setlist but there's basically nothing new while GH World Tour has a lot of new things (the best in my opinion being the drum kit in comparison to Rock Band's) but not as good of a setlist. Then again GH Tunes will change that.

I like guitar hero world tour because of the drum set. I think the harder you hit it the louder it is in the game. I play on expert guitar and drums so the drums are a big thing for me since the set i have now from rock band is starting to break..again...

This looks like fun. Assassin is awesome, BYOB is pretty fun. All in all, pretty good setlist. Cool to see Tokio Hotel and At the Drive-In on this. I think it would be cool to throw something crazy and unexpected on a game like this, something like Bring Me The Horizon or Higina by Bless the Fall maybe. Where's Master of Puppets or something from that CD? I thought MOP was gonna be on here. On an unrelated note, they should add a double bass pedal for the drums, so you can do more modern heavy stuff more realistically. And it would make for a nice challenge for non-drummers.

Rock Band 2 instruments work with Guitar Hero World Tour, and vice versa. Playing rock band drums on GHWT, they remove a note on the chart because GHWT uses 5 notes then the bass pedal, whereas rock band uses 4 and the bass pedal. GH3 guitar controller also works with RB2, whereas the rock band fender controller doesn't work with GH3, but WILL work for the next one.

Once again, they've chosen the more popular songs from the bands people wanted instead of the ones that people will actually have fun playing (Trapped Under Ice aside). Screw this game. I'm getting Rock Band 2 instead. Ever since Harmonix quit to make Rock Band, there's been a dramatic decrease in fun in the GH series. Harmonix brought back the fun with Rock Band while Guitar Hero only annoyed you with 2 or 3 impossibly hard songs. Also, the fact that Activision completely stole Rock Band's concept for a game that's supposed to focus on guitar just shows that all they want is to outsell Harmonix at a game they created.

Got Rock Band 2 yesterday and it's loads of fun. Love the fact you can take all RB1 songs and put em on 2. Hopefully you can do this with GH. Either way, this setlist looks boss! Van Halen, Tool, Hendrix. Metallica (though it coulda been a better song) though theres no Rage or Megadeth. and no Opeth for either... would love to see Opeth on one of these games. Hopefully GH can keep up with song releases like RB can.

Actually, Activision has stated that they want to release four guitar heroes a year. Still, Hendrix, Mr. Crowley, and Tool make me want this game... a lot of the other songs I like are also on Rock Band 2, which I already have. Plus, Harmonix lets me use my DLC.

no, unless you count the wii release, which I dont, its a port which is different. Rock band 1 came out around black friday of 2007, rock band 2 came out yesterday. Ok, let's be realistic here. Do you people not reliase that heavy metal isn't as loved byt he game-buying masses as you think it is, and a song list containing any more metal than this would result in poor game sales? They're not going to do something which loses them money.

Not to mention, for all you know the bands you're asking for may have been asked to put a song in and refused. All the GH games and Rock Band have had problems getting certain bands or even entire record labels on-board, there are many bands that refuse to have their songs put in the game and there's a couple of record labels that refuse to let any of their bands on the game.

What do you want them to add? Trumpets? GH just ripped off Rock Band. And don't say Rock Band ripped off GH, because Rock Band was made by Harmonix, the creators of GH 1, 2, and 80s. yes i agree, I've never owned a GH game have only ever played it occasionally at friends houses and can beat Fire and flames on expert, I find it a very easy game... anyway point being these games get really old really fast and I'd much rather spend my time and money on real guitar

From a business perspective (them wanting money), it's a damn fine setlist. It covers a broad genre of music and includes quite a few classics people have been clamoring for, while hopefully introducing people to some new music as well. Just because it lacks the metal you so desire, does not make it bad. The vast majority does not want to play metalhero, sorry. They touch on metal genres just enough in my opinion, with Dream Theater and Tool (Hard rock sure, progressive sure, but put it on for your parents and they'll say its 'heavy metal'). Metallica, Nugent and Ozzy also bring heavy music to the table. There seems to be plenty to go around, a lot of songs in general, and with two hendrix songs, I find it hard to complain.

(led zeppelin doesn't want their songs in the game, for ****ing christ stop asking why there isn't any)

Also, to everyone complaining about GHWT not being metal enough, it's true that when the game first started out it catered mainly for the hard rockers/metalheads and did well for that, as admittedly playing nothing but acoustics all alone isn't the most fun thing in the world. However, now that Neversoft have practically tried to rip off Rock Band with an an equally good setlist, the game has to adapt to playing loads of different genres or risk losing out from sales by people with less heavy tastes.
Having said that, as a fellow metalhead I'm gonna buy it for Scream Aim Fire, B.Y.O.B and Pull Me Under alone, but really, why the hell haven't they put Cemetery Gates/ Hallowed Be Thy Name on there yet, not to mention ANY Trivium or Children of Bodom on any of the games?
I really hope that rumour about the secret double-kick slot was right, otherwise Scream Aim Fire's drum are gonna sound much shittier than they deserve...
