Hinder's 'Extreme Behavior'

Let nothing “hinder” your appreciation of the subtleties purveyed by this Oklahoma City fivesome, who are collectively dedicated to bringing back the good old decadent days when sex, drugs and rock & roll weren’t dirty words, but a way of life.

Produced by Brian Howes (Closure, DDT) and engineered by Mike Fraser (Aerosmith, AC/DC) in Vancouver, BC’s Armoury Studios, Hinder’s debut Universal Records effort, Extreme Behavior, is filled with flick-your-Bic moments of arena-rock grandeur, all crackling dual lead guitars, ethereal four-part harmonies and soaring beat-your-chest rock vocals, taking a page from timeless groups like Bad Company, Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, among others.

The album’s first single, “Get Stoned,” is already tallying up pre-release airplay at such bastions of Rock radio as 102.1 The Edge in Dallas/Fort Worth and CFOX Vancouver.

“I loved all that shit,” explains rollicking lead singer Austin Winkler, a gravelly voiced howler who counts such in-your-face front men as Steven Tyler, Vince Neil and Buckcherry’s Josh Todd as his inspirations. “Four people singing and putting on a big rock show. We want to bring that back. It would be wicked if we could.”

“We’re hoping to be the band to get people into rock again,” says drummer Cody Hanson, who writes the bulk of the band’s material with Winkler.

What a freaking letdown. I got all excited reading the article expecting them to be like Silvertide, but then it was just some generic plodding heavy rock song that sounds nothing like classic rock. Hmmph.

I agree with medman and llamadawg, these guys have a great sound, granted after hearing Get Stoned I was hoping for more umph but still good shit. To everyone else, narrow minded people say narrow minded things. Stop trying to compare them to other bands, I get tired of sound-a-likes!

Extreme Behavior is the first album that I didn't have to skip songs. Their mix of amazing guitar with the raspy sex appeal of Austin's voice makes for one of the best bands that have came out in a long time. "Get Stoned" set the mood for their album with the take no prisoners attitude that was only found in the 80's...sex, drugs, and rock n' roll! They are an amazing group that are AMAZING live. Buy their album, go see a show! And then...Go Home...Get Stoned..Cause the sex is so much better when your mad at me...

Ya'll are insane!! Hinder's Extreme Behavior is absolutely amazing! There is not one song on this CD that is not hit worthy!! This is one of the few CD's I own that I love to listen to all the way through. These guys are destine to be stars. The only thing that is more amazing then listening to their CD, is watching the amazing performance they put on when you watch them live! This CD is the BEST!!! I LOVE HINDER!!

ya'll are stupid caus if you like rock you should like them.i love them cause they sing whatever they are feeling at that time.i like other bands but i love them.i don't know what it is about them but they are the most awsomest band to have come along so far.austin has so much feeling in is voice when he sing.it's addictive.they are 5 guys who are so passionate about what they do and i love that.learn what real music is about.i am willing to travel just to see them again.they are so awsome.when you mess with them you mess with their fans.so either like them and tell the world or if you don't then don't say anything about them.

you know how they say "don't judege a book by it's cover"? well, judging Hinder off of this one song is exactly the same thing. I mean hi "Get Stoned" was chosen as a single, i assume by the record company. And in my opinion it's not even the best song on the CD but it's great and the rest of the CD is even better. I agree with InRoom21WMike and Harmony in that it's pretty much the only CD I play completely through without skipping tracks. AND I definately agree with Harmony when she says their live performance is amazing. They have so much energy, you can totally tell its all about the music...

You people really swing from one extreme to the other. Look, I like Get Stoned O.K. but if it were the only good song on the album I wouldn't bother listening. I hope to see or hear the release of another single off the album. It is trully great to listen to a good rock sound from some obviously talented people. The fact that these guys brought back harmony to rock is the reason that they are being compared to bands from the past. As for me, I welcome the return. The point is that good music is timeless. Most of the greatest songs from the past, if released for the first time now, would still be great songs and would top the charts. This is a good album with good music, who cares who it does or doesn't sound like. The comparisons are just to give us insight to choose whether to listen to it or not. I hope this band does well and I believe that they will. By the way, that isn't very subtle InRoom21w/Mike and Harmony.

Ok... Rock is a broad term, There are many things that can be "considered" rock.. Punk, Indie, Death Metal, Industrial Metal, Brit Pop, Emo, Etc.
