Hoobastank: New Album Details

Hoobastank's third full-length effort, "Every Man For Himself," will be released April 18 via Island, reports BillBoard.

The Californian act teamed up once again with producer Howard Benson (POD, My Chemical Romance), who manned the boards for its hit 2003 album "The Reason." First single "If I Were You" can be streamed via the band's official website.

The band's previous album "The Reason" peaked at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 in May 2004 and has sold 2.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single of the same name is the band's highest charting song, spending much of 2004 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 2. The album spawned three Grammy nominations and also featured the singles "Disappear," "Out Of Control" and "Same Direction."

Man...I bought their self titled LP when it came out, back when they had some balls. Now they pretty much make bedwetter music like Coldplay

How could you compare them to Coldpaly? Just cause they have two or three soft songs does not make them like Coldplay.

Dude, the only soft song on their latest CD was The Reason. All the others were like their previous releases. Did you even listen to "The Reason"(album, not song)?

The new song "If I Were You" is complete rubbish. It's worse than the song "The Reason." The album The Reason wasn't so bad, except that song really got to me b/c it's not Hoobastank.
Anyone else listen to the new song yet? It's awful...

Hoobstanks last album had a few good songs, but nothing worth spending money on. It just goes to show that one shitty song can sell you over two million albums in this society of followers

Agreed. Their 2nd album was not bad though, the guitarist has a couple of nice rhythm riffs

I always sorta kinda liked them because back in the day, they reminded me of Incubus, my fav. band. But then I caught them live once, and they were hoooorible. Then their new album was just radio-friendly pop. yea soooo I dont like Hooba anymore.

I think the self titled LP was more along the lines of Incubus but The Reason kind of pulled away from that. I want to hear 'They Sure Don't Make Basketball Shorts Like They Used To' but I can't find it anywhere...even online.

"The Reason" was a rock ballad. If they can change up on one song I think that shows more talent. As long as they don't try to ride on that for the rest of their career and stick to what they like then hell yeah. Their heavier songs are the best though.

il drink to that, good lad.

not heard the new song.. i can bet it'l be another ballad like "the reason".. to be honest i agree that by doing ballads it makes thier music more diverse.. but they aren't really the sort of band that are all that good at doing ballads.. tho.. i think i (like most people) just don't like it that much because it was painfully overplayed.

no seriously though i like the song "the reason". it isn't full of distortion and effects which shows they have talent and can actually play well unlike alot of today's bands

The Reason is good. Overplayed, yes. Just because they have a few "ballads" dosent mean they suck. All the rest of thier music is quality music. Yea, their S/T album is alot better than The Reason ablum, but still. Just because "If I Were You" isnt as hard as their normal music, dosent mean the whole album is going to blow. Personally, I cant wait for their new album. Ive seen these guys live tons of times, and everytime I see them, Im never bored.

well i really think hoobastank are a really talented punk rock band but my only complaint is that they need to work on some of their beats! i like bands with good beats and that's really something i think i could help hoobastank with! so if Mr. or Mrs. Hoobastank are reading this please call me! i can save your beats!

dude, coldplay are one of the best bands around, right up there with soad, franz and weezer.

anyway, their new song isn't all that, but neither was the reason. they need to put out a pop radio-station friendy single to promote the album. the reason was a great album, i'm sure their new one is gonna kick ass!

I hope they don't cock this up. I enjoyed the first album a lot (Crawling in the Dark - awesome song) and the second album slightly less so...I hope they don't go all queer and pseudo-emo.
