In Flames Signs North American Deal With Koch Records

Swedish metallers In Flames have inked a deal with Koch Records for the North American release of their new album, "A Sense of Purpose". Due on April 1 (April 7 in most of Europe via Nuclear Blast), the follow-up to 2006's "Come Clarity" was recorded at the band's own IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and was mixed by Toby Wright (Metallica, Slayer).

The group received assistance during the vocal-recording sessions from producer Daniel Bergstrand, who previously produced the vocals on "Reroute To Remain", "Soundtrack To Your Escape" and "Come Clarity".

All artwork for the album was created by Alex Pardee for ZeroFriends. Alex also created the artwork for the first single, "The Mirror's Truth".

"Adding a band at the level of In Flames to the Koch roster shows our commitment to the metal genre," said the label's VP of Metal Scott Givens. "They are poised to be one of the biggest metal bands in the world and we are thrilled to be chosen to help them make it happen."

"A Sense of Purpose" track listing:

01. The Mirror's Truth
02. Disconnected
03. Sleepless Again
04. Alias
05. I'm the Highway
06. Delight and Angers
07. Move Through Me
08. The Chosen Pessimist
09. Sober and Irrelevant
10. Condemned
11. Drenched In Fear
12. March To The Shore

"We are extremely happy with the end result and so proud of what we have achieved with the new album and can't wait for you all to hear it," the band said in a statement.

In Flames will release a the "The Mirror’s Truth" single on March 7 via Nuclear Blast Records. The European-only release will contain the following tracks:

01. The Mirror's Truth
02. Eraser *
03. Tilt *
04. Abnegation *

* Exclusive non-album tracks

A new In Flames track, entitled "Abnegation", is featured on the "Viva La Bands, Vol. 2" album, which was released on September 4, 2007 via Ferret Music and Filthy Note Records. The CD features exclusive tracks, written and recorded for the CD/DVD combo from some of Bam's favorite acts like Clutch, Cky, Children Of Bodom, Viking Skull and Vains Of Jenna. A U.S.-exclusive track from Shiny Toy Guns and music from other faves like Gwar, The Sounds, Dimmu Borgir and Kill Hannah also appears on the compilation.

In Flames, Children Of Bodom, Job For A Cowboy and High On Fire will play this year's Gigantour in North America beginning mid-April and running through the end of May. Headlining the trek will be Megadeth.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

Cmon man, give em a break. If u were in a band you would want to get as big as possible, especially considering the talent this band has, they deserve it. And America is the biggest market, so u do the math. And i dont wanna hear any selling out bullshit cuz we all know its not true.

I hope its better than Come Clarity, I was really dissapointed by it, their worst sounding album so far imo. They need to go back to the Jester Race/ old school In Flames sound.

ok they say bergstrand produced vocals on the past three albums... then who the hell produced the vocals on the albums before that? they need that guy back.

You know, just cuz I heard it on the radio today..

You don't think that's a cover of Audioslave's I Am The Highway do you?

Kinda dissapointed by the albun art, but I'm sure the soundtracks will make up for it. Can not disagree more about the vocals being sucky now compared to earlier years, though. I think his voice is much stronger and better than on Whoracle and Jester race imo. Really loved his vocal work in Soundtrack To Your Escape and Come Clarity.
That said, I cant wait 'till this cd comes out! Really like In Flames and cant wait to hear the new riffs Bjørn and Jesper pulls off!

I live in this really small town in north of Sweden, only 70 000 people live here. And right now during the 3 following weeks they're shooting their new video in this town. Like 2miles from where I live. Might go over and see if I can't spot or somethin'. Anyway, great band, Come Clarity was awesome.

The real news is that In Flames is back on the road, I saw them on tour for "Soundtrack to Your Escape" with Arch Enemy opening, and all I can say is: Holy F*ck! Minus Job For A Cowboy, it looks like Gigantour already has a solid set of bands. Bodom have chips on their shoulders and something to prove after their last album was a flop. High On Fire is one of the only true American Cult bands that still kick ass, I would love to see those guys live, they're just a straight-up riff machine. Saw Megadeth open for Heaven and Hell, and for dudes old enough to be my dad, they were tighter than a machine.
