Kaiser Chiefs' Joke Album

artist: kaiser chiefs date: 05/31/2007 category: upcoming releases
rating: 0 / votes: 0

Kaiser Chiefs recently revealed plans to release a "joke" record that was spontaneously recorded.

Front man Ricky Wilson confessed the LP was inspired by Will Ferrell's character in "Anchorman".

He said: "One night we were left in the studio with just our sound engineer. We had this idea to record an album for 45 minutes off the top of our heads."

"We just made it up as we went along. We called it 'Bad' because it's so awful. We took our inspiration from Will Ferrell's character in 'Anchorman' who just says what he sees."

"I haven't listened to it since we recorded it. I'd like to, but I know I'd cringe because it's really bad and unfunny." Wilson added.

Thnaks for the info to Angryape.com.

Im sorry to be sinacle but I bet if they released it, even though it would probably be absolutely diabolical it would probably sell 100 times what many bands who spend years writing incredible music sell. I guess it shows just how ****ed up the music industry is.

oh jesus christ... whats wrong with the world. kaiser chiefs suck, its music to make unimportant people feel like theyre really hardcore and in on the rock scene. i hate britains sudden obsession with al these types of bands, giving it that "im a lad, wooooo"... hopefully it will die down....

I want to hear it too... It'd be cool if they just released it for free download, or something like that.

Will Ferrel's character said anything he saw on the prompter, I believe thats what he's referring to.

Peter Griffin!

What a stupid idea.. my band messes around and makes up dumbass songs all the time but we never record them and actually think people would want to pay to listen to them.

lateraluspiral wrote on 05/31/2007 - 04:12 pm / quote |
their entire catalogue is a joke.
I pray to god no one pays actual money to hear this thing. Anyone can be a dumbass in the studio for 45 minutes.

You guys are no fun. You're all just jealous of their sales because no one wants to hear your "serious" music. They obviously had fun making the record, and if they make any money off of it, good for them. No one is due anything in music, so shut the hell up about there being so many deserving bands out there that should be getting the sales. There's no finite amount of records that can be sold, so one band selling something you don't like doesn't take away from the sales of other bands. Be cool, mah babies.

Actually, if I had the money to buy an album and I want two albums, but I end up choosing the Kaiser Chiefs one, then that would mean it would be taking away from the sales of a different band. So, no you're wrong, the limit is people's money.

KickOutTheJamsX wrote on 05/31/2007 - 09:02 pm / quote |
want more cash? if they worried about cash, they might care about the music quality.. they are even calling it a joke and how its awful for gods sake...

caucasian_ninja wrote on 06/01/2007 - 12:22 am / quote |
Nah, I honestly don't think it's a money thing. I mean, true, they could have just put up an mp3 on their website or something instead of creating a product, but hell... why not make a dollar off of it? I'm just saying, I'm sure they didn't set out to do that or anything.

It might be funny, Anyone heard that NOFX album where they spent about 10 minutes writing each song? I kinda hate that whole genre of music, but it's actually pretty funny in parts. I'm now a big fan of the song "I gotta pee"...

punkrockpirate wrote on 06/01/2007 - 01:22 am / quote |
Seriously, if he won't even listen to it, they had better not charge for it. That strikes me as really horrible.

FunkasPuck wrote on 06/01/2007 - 05:41 am / quote |
what was the point in this story?
seriously. the standard of news here sometimes is atrocious.

untalented wrote on 06/01/2007 - 11:02 am / quote |
i hope they release it because then it will show how credible they actually are and how talentless they are. They can't create anything worthwhile when they spend time and effort let alone when they play spontaneously. I'm all for diversity and lots of bands giving their expressions and even if I can't stand to listen to a lot of genres of music, like rap or hip hop, I can at least appreciate that some of it actually is genius even if a lot of it is rubbish. Kaiser chiefs come under the rubbish category of rock for me. Sorry to say it.

matthuman wrote on 06/01/2007 - 11:18 am / quote |
everyone who comments on how rubbish the kaiser chiefs are is stupid because music is about opinion so shut up, any way they will make lots of money from 45 minutes of work good for them,

TreeSurgery wrote on 06/01/2007 - 12:24 pm / quote |
"music is about opinion so shut up"

hahahaha

even though I agree in essence, that there is no universal good music. if they try and sell it... blah, it they give it free, thats cool!
