That's what I'm worried about, I'm not the biggest Killswitch fan but I've liked their stuff so far, I hope this album isn't shit.

oh yeah just what we need, another bloke who doesnt enjoy listening to a band, yet still clicks on the link to read about a band he doesnt enjoy, and them whats more, post a pointless comment about how he doesnt like them and is not looking foward to their new album... tosser...

with regards to the album, should be interesting... although killswitch are slowly moving away from the sound that i liked, alive or just breathing and end of heartache... and now a producer change... adam is my favourite producer so not really too happy about that... but guess theres only one way to find out.. sit tight and wait...

Brendan O'Brien. Great producer, has produced some of the best albums ever.

However, don't blow your load over it. Not everything he does turns to gold. Bruce Springsteen's Magic is a fine example. Terribly produce, pure sludgehammer sound and mastering.

End of Heartache was a masterpiece, As Daylight dies was dull as dishwater - I guess that's why they've sought outside help this time...

Brendan O'Brien has just worked on the new Mastodon album, so hopefully that'll give him some ideas, cos that album is gonna be the best of 2009 without doubt.

I'm partially excited because this gives them new insight from an outside producer and that could hopefully deter them from making another "As Daylight Dies." Sorry but everything before is worlds better in my opinion. I'd also like to see a shift in the vocals. Don't get me wrong, Howard's voice is amazing but the opera-style sustained notes when he sings has got to go, it's redundant.

how can you claim killswitch engage is a "generic metalcore band"? the massive wave of metalcore that all sounded the same for the last few years was just the result of loads of bands copying killswitch; and killswitch themselves are an amalgamation of two of the founding fathers of the genre; aftershock and overcast.

Alive or just breathing and the end of heartache are fantastic albums; and metalcore isnt a completely pointless genre, there are other bands that have their own angle and dont just copy killswitch.

I didnt like as daylight dies either, but id imagine that they changed their sound so much to escape from the copycats.

Yeah, the albums pre-ADLD were way better, but the album had its moments for sure. And these guys are so far away from generic I could cry! The riffs, vocals, and melodies are completely original.

I like Killswitch very much. Great band, puts out good work every time, and have been great live every time I've seen em. I'll buy this as opposed to downloading it.

But I have to think that their best work was with Jesse as a singer. AOJB is easily one of my top 10 albums of this decade. I think Jesse had more of a screaming range (no wonder he blew out his vocal chords), and used it more effectively. As a result that album sounds raw and very powerful when compared to the end of heartache or daylight dies.

Eh, either way I'm rambling so I'll stop... this is good news, and I look forward to the new stuff.

I assume you must not have ears then. The two albums are VERY different stylistically, As Daylight Dies is much more melodic and Howard alternates a heck of a lot more between singing and screams.

I agree jesse was awsome and had a passion in his voice but I would say howard has a better vocal technique both screaming and singing wich is why he doesnt blow his vocals out wether he sounds better or not is a different bag of chips

I have high hopes for this release. Then again, I said that for Trivium's "Shogun" and was sadly disappointed.

and you guys are ****ing stupid, there was no significant difference in the music on The End of Heartache and As Daylight Dies. you pansy asses just hate when a band gets MTV recognition. the albums are very similar, except maybe AS Daylight Dies is faster at times and slower at times.

It's not the fact that they got MTV recognition really, but As Daylight Dies was definitely more of a melodic direction. I'd even say that this is one of their slowest albums. And I'd also even say that the album in itself sounds like they were close to their peak with ideas.

The End of Heartache was definitely a perfect mix of old and new KSE with the melodic sections and the thrashy parts. I personally would LOVE to see KSE get heavier and faster again like with AOJB. More breakdowns would kick ass too; mosh riffs are good, but cmon...cmon

Killswitch is good but i think that they get repetitive. it should be good to get an outside source to help produce it.

and you must be a FOOL to say that Mastodon sucks. period

Lyrically they become repetitive too. I've found that Howard Jones is a lot more creative with his lyrics in Blood Has Been Shed than in KSE. But then again, the music in KSE is a lot more straightforward in structure and riffs while Blood Has Been Shed is a lot more dirty and all over the place.

I just hope that this album they can take the style that they have and bring it to another level. The news of the outside producer kind of alarmed me, but as long as Adam D. has some input on it.

the first line in the article states that it's the first album under roadrunner records. first was under ferret for those who don't know.

I don't care what producer they're working with..."The End of Heartache" was the only album I thought was tolerable...everything else this band has released is hilarious. Their newest shit sounds more freshman than the shit they released when they dropped their studio nuts. lol Bash on me...I'm sure there are other mother****ers out there that have good musical sense and see the same shit with these losers...

AS DAYLIGHT DIES is way better than alive or just breathing...yeah alive or just breathing was a really good cd but their cds have just been getting better Jesse Leach was a good singer but Howard Jones just fits better and also their dio cover is WAYYY better than the original in my opinion i know you along with many other dio fans disagree,im just not in to that geezer metal.

From the comments that I've read it seems people are a little scared that adam isn't producing. But Brendan helped AC/DC produce Black Ice which was a great album. I think adam was getting singled minded on the sound he wanted, thats why some people didn't think As Daylight Dies was as good as the other albums. Give this guy a chance, but if he ends up ruining it, then we can let the harsh comments fly. Also I think they should start doing solos, that way people will stop saying that they're crappy guitarists. They did a great job on Holy Diver so more solos would not offend me. All in all, I cant wait for the new album and i cant wait to see them on tour again.
