Killswitch Engage Duo To Reunite For New Band

Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and former vocalist Jesse Leach are reuniting to form a new band, Times Of Grace.

This is the first time the duo have recorded together since their band's 2002 album, "Alive Or Just Breathing".

Speaking about their decision to work together again, Leach explained: "Adam and I had a real spiritual connection while making this and I know that it comes through in the performances and lyrics. This record has our blood, sweat and tears flowing through it. It is painfully honest at times. In short, this record is our catharsis."

The pair's album, "The Hymn Of A Broken Man", will be released on November 8.

The full tracklisting is:

01. Strength In Numbers
02. Fight For Life
03. Willing
04. Where The Spirit Leads Me
05. Until The End Of Days
06. Live In Love
07. In the Arms of Mercy
08. Hymn Of A Broken Man
09. Hope Remains
10. The End Of Eternity
11. Worlds Apart
12. Fall From Grace

Thanks for the report to Nme.com.

Yes Yes will get this, but as much as I love Jesse's voice I love Howards, so please don't let this affect the main band. Kse is a definate all time favorite for me, no matter who's singing.

not a fan of Jesse's vocals. His voice lacks that almost biblical power that I find Howard's has in my opinion. Im all for more heavy music however so as long as it doesnt conflict with the current KSE lineup ill be a happy bunny!

This album was finnished in like the end of 2008, about time it gets released haha.
I've read somewhere this has multiple styles of music, not just metalcore, could be wrong though.
Anyway, im pumped for this, cant wait to hear it

UNREAL. I can't wait to hear what these two come up with. Leach may not have the same vocal power as Howard, but his lyrics are SO powerful. This will, at the very least, be something to tide me over between KsE albums.

@Newageweirdo, the problem with labelling bands is that people are inaccurate. I see Carnifex call themselves death metal all the time, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen a death metal act have two step sections in their songs.
Excessive use of labelling sucks, I agree, but it's there for a reason. By knowing which category a band fits best, you already know what to expect.

ScorianVaseras wrote on 08/20/2010 - 11:21 pm / quote |
Also, win@ Jesse Leach. Not keen on the whole christcore thing, but he was a pretty cool dude.

newageweirdo wrote on 08/21/2010 - 03:03 am / quote |
i agree to some point scorianvaseras. the idea of being able to describe an artist in just one or two words would make it easy, on paper. im a firm believer in sampling music. i dont ever count an artist out until ive heard them. now if i was going to label a genres is would be only the main ones such as country or ROCK or rap or classical and maybe jazz. but this sub genre shit is used as a marketing scheme. kids nowadays think that if you wear pants that fit well or baggy pants that you listen to rap or a "emo" music or they dress that way because they listen to those types of music. it ruins our youth for the sake of exploiting undeveloped character and using that for profit.

Is Adam gonna record all the instruments for this new project then? He's a pretty decent drummer!

I'm very happy for this release. I love jesse and adam. I'm sure it won't be a KsE rip-off. For two reasons:

Jesse left the band due to marriage and rarely could do shows back to back to back, because his vocal method required him to lose his voice. Therefore I highly doubt it will be metal, or if it is metal, that aggressive.

Number two, you can't rip-off your own band. These two are of the original members in the beginning formation of KsE.

Stoked for the release, hopefully a pre-order will be available.

Alright fellas. I have something to say regarding this statement. The fact you call them "mediocre core metal" slightly pisses me off, considering these guys were among the pioneers of metalcore, and the earlier stuff including Jesse Leach was FAR from mediocre. It was groundbreaking. KsE's last album was a severe let-down I will give you that, but calling them a mediocre core metal act is completely un-called for.

If it is a Neurosis reference I would be totally satisfied. I love sludge. More of a Torche and Mastodon guy though.

fret13 wrote on 08/21/2010 - 09:35 pm / quote |
Well I know that Adam and Jesse are both openly Christian so this is probably going to be a Christian metal album and the reason it's not a kSe album is probably because of fanbase.

It's core, the entire fanbase consists of 13-15 year old girls and 13-21 year old guys that look like 13-15 year old girls. If its core it will sell to that fanbase, so I don't see how that logic is possible.

And to progjazzmath, it is not a reference, it's just another cliched V E E E E E E R Y over done core song name. The silver lining in all this is that soon enough the core fad will die, and this album is just another step towards that joyess day.

OT: not excited for the album at all, but excited for its necessary evil.

Why are people so fussy over subgenres. I honestly don't care whether its Metalcore or Vegetarian Blue Metal With A Side Of Chips.
