Led Zeppelin Comeback DVD Could Be Scrapped

Plans to release Led Zeppelin’s one off reunion show at the O2 Arena on DVD are close to being scrapped, according to guitarist Jimmy Page.

Page said, however, that there was never any real intention to release the band’s concert from last December on DVD.

“It was recorded - but we didn't go in with the express purpose of making a DVD to come out at Christmas, or whatever,” he told Uncut.

He added, however, that “at some distant point” the concert may become available for people who weren’t their in person.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Led Zeppelin have given their strongest hint yet that future reunion shows may be in the pipeline.

In a magazine article, frontman Robert Plant said “one day, we could do it again for another really, really good reason.”

I don't consider them metal, but they definitely did influence a lot of metal and rock bands. Whether you like them is up to you, but their influence is unavoidable in rock music.

Is anyone else really sick of the barrage of articles about led zeppelin one after the other saying something either identical or totally contradictory to the previous one?
1. Led Zep reunite, led zep rehearse, led zep rehearse but where?, Led Zep play a show, Led Zep plan tour, Cult to tour with Led Zep, Led Zep won't tour, Velvet Revolver to tour with led Zep? (blatantly contradictory), Someone says this, but others say that oh dear lord a DVD that wasn't going to come out still has no plans to come out but if we want to it might. FOR GOD'S SAKE SHUT UP!!!

Zeppelin ought to put the Dvd of the O2 concert on hold. They should put it on hold if they might tour (or perform several concerts at least) in the fall or next spring. Thats why i think Jimmy is saying this, because of a possible tour. One problem, new Zeppelin related recordings, especially live recording seem to take forever to be let out to the public. Of course they are great recordings when they do though. I just hope if they don't tour we dont have to wait too long again, to get to see and hear this O2 concert, be it pretty good, or near great in its own way. Fingers crossed on that tour, ladies and gentelmen remain in your seats at all times! enjoy your flight! if we ever get to a Zeppelin concert.

Just like the london Earls court 1975 footage from the latest Zeppelin Dvd, that was recorded from a jumbo screen display at the concert. That came out very well considering its age. If they first won't put out the O2 concert on dvd, how about a Page and Plant concert from one of the 1995, or 1998 tour shows, that might tame the masses for a while. I bet a concert dvd from those years would be super sweet. Lucky those who got to see them live on those tours at least.

haha, really, I think they are just afriad they would be jumping on the 'Im old now and I need more money, so lets tour' bandwagon. They simply -dont- do it for the money... Which is why most of their concerts benefit charity. And why Robert is touring with Krauss and making not too much money, when Led zeppelin could bring in billions. I do hope they realize though that the younger generation wants SOME sort of way to see how amazing they are, even still today. If they aren't going to tour, at least give us youngin's a taste of how amazing it could have possibly been to have been in that crowd.

i wouldnt quite say they pioneered heavy metal, but they greatly influenced it. EVH would never had invented tapping had he not seen page play the Heartbreaker solo. hard rock? i can agree with you there lol but not so much heavy metal.

They do if they still want to be succsesfull. I respect bluegrass players, many of which are better guitarist than I will ever be, but to have one of the greatest singers of all time sing that genre is like playing a 59 les paul through a $10 amp.
