Mootallica :
Only 2/4 truly original members, and one not even replaced, It's good to see they're writing, but whether they'll follow through, that's a whole different ball game.

I was just getting over the once a day theories about Led Zep, now it's going to be once a day theories on the release date.

I wonder if it will come out before Chinese Democracy :O

I hope that they don't release anything under the Led Zeppelin name. While Bonham is great in his own right, he isn't his father and therefore it isn't really Zeppelin. It is as close enough as they could get though, so I should be happy either way. I just want them to tour...

Musically this should be brilliant if we ever get to hear anything with Page and Jones together again. It won't be the same with Plant however, so I hope he gets on board too...
And it still won't be the same without John Bonham, but I guess Jason is the next best thing, so I'm not going to complain

Lies, wouldn't happen... But i agree with atc228, if it were to happen, it'd see the light of day before chinese democracy. But that doesn't matter because Chinese Democracy will be the biggest flop in recorded history. Don't buy it on itunes because you won't be able to return it!

I can't imagine any new Led Zeppelin. Pretty much EVERY one of their songs is revered now... what'll happen if it doesn't reach the same level of their older material? (Which it won't, of course. They're a legend.) I still think they should've just stuck to touring.

Obviously these guys had a blast playing together and just replaying the old stuff wasn't enough. I hope they get Plant in there and they put out something cool. I'd probably dig whatever it is.

Come on, Zeppelin tour...

this is was so predictable. As soon as they said they were talking about doing a gig (all those months ago) it was evident that they would record somthing. im not too fussed but it seems like they are dry out of cash tbh.

And rumors are that they are going to be opening the 2012 london olympics... beause britain are hosting the worlds biggest and best rock show in the world ever...

So zep has to be there... and ACDC...

It's so incredible that like all these classic rock pioneers are coming back with albums and everything. AC/DC, Metallica, Zeppelin... Although I have no idea what's going on with plant, because it won't be nearly as good if he's not working on anything, no offense to page and jones but they need another starter member so really kick

You mean Jonesy, right?

Don't really care if it's a new album or a tour, I just want more amazing stuff from them. Hopefully Robert comes around, I love his solo albums so it'd be nice to see him apply some of those vocals on a new Zep record. However, I have a feeling it be even more bluesy than usual...not complaing, though.

Qasur :
So, new material? Epic. Definately.

As some have said, theres no Plant... but look: Many bands come together and start hammering out the music for songs, or just to get together and "resync" their abilities for a writing process. Then, when they're ready, the singer comes in, gets caught up quickly and starts writing to match the material. It's one way to do an album (and Plant could even have talked with them and said he has written material he'd like music for.)

Either way! Great news! Definately awesome.

Oh, and if there's a new album... why wouldn't they tour the album? Sounds like a frigin' amazingly-awesome news for UG today! New album AND tour? Holy shit.

Plant isn't as AMAZING as he wad!!! He blew his voice around the time of bonhams voice, just listen to him sing kashmir on youtube( from December 07,London o2)
and after that gig all the experienced music critics said that jason is exactly the same as his dad(but bonhams snr. Will always be better)
so 2 and 3 Quaters isn't bad!!!!! Plus page is god and j.p.j's an underared genius!!!!!
all in all a new album and a world tour would be amazing and no one can deny it!!!

They definitely should write music together, but two things.
Firstly, they shouldn't compose anything similar to good-old-Zeppelins. Maybe a folk/blues album? Imo that would be great, and Plant'd be happy.
Secondly, they surely must avoid releasing it under Led Zeppelin.

olympics... beause britain are hosting the worlds biggest and best roc show in the world ever...

So zep has to be there... and ACDC...

ACDC is from Australia mate. It wouldn't make much sense to have foreigners open the Olympics for the home country.

i dont think it matters... i just heard its the biggest and best rock concert. i didnt really think about them being australian, but with them bringing out the new album and all... i figured they might be part.

and lets face it, if its only british bands, it aint gonna be the best rock concert in the world... it will be led zep supported by artic monkeys or some shit

I doubt this is true but if it is. Wow. That would be pretty interesting. One thing we know for sure, Page wont pick any 'nobodys' for replacements. At least He better not...

Ok I guess after reading some of the other comments its easy to understand why Plant is shying away from doing a new record. There's that chance that it will flop. I mean, They didn't end their career at their highest point ( Presence and In through the Out door weren't exactly their biggest albums...) But he should at least give the initiative to just go into studio, and TRY. Not necessarily produce an album, but jam together and see how it goes. If it works, it works. If it doesn't well. We'll all just have to be satisfied by playing the wonderful classics their legacy left us.

Page and Plant toured under a different name, why wouldn't Jones and Page? On Page and Plant's tour, they were called "Page and Plant: No Quarter."

I think they should go with a different, but related name. For instance, the names of one of Dread Zeppelin's albums is "Re-Led-ed." That would be a great, not to mention apt, name for them.

This is just my humble opinion, which talent does'nt really need, but its fun to post. It does look like good news for led zeppelin fans, even though we've been through alot reading constant articles on any hints of reunion activity only to be dashed to pieces.
All our musical hopes could be still dashed, but its interesting news. I also heard *from two sources* that as of early September the group Jason Bohnam was touring with foreiner, is to be told Jason is no longer their drummer lol. It could be just another rumor post though, sounds credible. John Paul Jones has said that Jasons drum fills or whatever are nothing like his legendary fathers, and i tend to believe him. But don't forget Jimmy Page is an revolutionary producer and made the drums sound like no other before on record, on the Zeppelin catalog. Its plausable and hopeful that Jimmy would continue that tradition on any new Zeppelin studio collaboration. On the underated "walking into Clarkesdale" cd Page and Plant hired producers from the band Nirvana, to capture its desired new sound idea, and as a result in my opinion worked wonders for the whole vibe of the cd. But forget Clarksdale for a minute. Robert Plants voice always seems to be changing, any bootleg experienced zeppelin fan knows this. Thats the greatness of bootlegs, the sound quality be it bad or good changes the whole musical experince of the captured performance going into your ears. But thats not a reflection nessisarly of possible waining talents of a singer. I saw a Plant Krauss concert this summer and it was sweet to behold, something new. I laughed a few times when Plant played Zeppelin tunes (other than those on the raising sand) and wow some real power came at me. Plant could easily come into the studio whenever he was ready and take over the material the others were jamming on. John Paul jones is more of a composer than just someone who happend to jam well with the band, he could maestro the whole thing i bet into miracle shape. like i said it could go either way, they could make a diamond or they could make nothing half as good or nothing at all. But you should just enjoy what they do. I doubt Plant wants to be caught up in playing Dazed and Confused for fifteen or twenty minutes every night(maybe he does) on a tour. They cut that number out live in 1975 and was a good move. Id really like to see them play that, if not hope Jimmy does a bow solo in some fashion. Led Zeppelin was a huge entity in its time, i bet its unthinkable to some in the band to unroll the doors to the huge primative aircraft called a derigable led zeppelin. I for one would be glad to help pull it out of the hanger by its ropes, only to run like hell when it goes down in flames lol jk. Its 2008 not 1975, so anything tour or album would be interesting and attended without wild critical expectations.
