Aren't some of the songs already out there?
I mean, Millenium of the blind was a bonus track on Youthanasia, New world order was too (i think), and black swan is a bonus on some United abominaions version.

Are these the same songs?
Yea well.... They had to make sure they had 13 tracks.
01. Sudden Death
07. New World Order
09. Black Swan
11. Millennium Of The Blind
These are old tracks/demos/ideas. Huh... Sudden Death is a piece of crap, maybe it's good on the album. Will be interesting to hear New World Order. The main riff is pretty sweet, but the demo song falls short.
Very odd, maybe they didnt like the original versions of the songs, kind of like how they remade A tout le monde with the singer of lacuna coil. Idk though very odd, Im kind of hoping they are the same songs though because i really didnt like any of them and maybe broderick and dave cleaned them up a little as kind of a commemoration of their thirteenth album. If they werent new songs id just be super disappointed with the content and or the lack of creativity in song writing. With all that said Public Enemy sounds KILLER! RATTLE YOUR FUCKIN HEADS PEOPLE! its gonna be another dooozy.
decided to give the track a listen after I laid into Dave hyping his new shit over his classic work. The song is average, not a bad song, but hardly a megadeth classic.
new world order was a pretty sweet demo off youthanasia, so it's nice to see that fleshed out. Millenium of the blind is ok, but more an interlude then a full song. That is unless he has changed it for this album.
Thats a pretty epic album cover for an album title that bad. Looking forward to this, Risk was the only Megadeth album that ever dissappointed me. Only albums I'm looking forward to more are Heritage by Opeth and Time by Wintersun...
oh dear - old demos, a very average tune in 'public enemy' and an overall feel that the band are in denial that this is as good as their old stuff . . . . . plus chris broderick is overrated. I love Megadeth but this is just a b-side collection at best!
dont get me wrong i love megadeth but i really wish they wouldnt keep putting the same album over and over again, either take some time on a thrash album and put out something truly fantastic or try something new like metallica
(yes i am aware butthurt megadeth fans are going to hate me for mentioning metallica)

yeah but you are correct! love both bands, probably megadeth even more but it just sounds like Dave is running out of ideas.

You are totally right. Megadeth have fallen to the talent level of Metallica which just isn't up to Dave's talents. Just gotta get it back to that Megadeth Talent level it used to be at.
I'm pretty excited to hear New World Order, that demo was one of my favorite songs on the remastered Youthanasia. I don't see why people are whining that they found a place to use old songs, pretty much any other artist that's been around this long does that.

Any song on death magnetic is better than this one. Not sure where falling to metallicas talent level is coming from. Making a good song has nothing to do with how fast you can solo or palm mute. It all has to click and this song just sounds generic. Say what you want about metallica but they're at least trying to offer something different with each album.
Yet another song that takes a riff from a better song. Anyone else hear the rising chords of Hangar 18 in the verses? They did the same with Holy Wars on 'Sleepwalker'...
And I'm NOT excited by the fact they might be using two demos from Youthanasia. It's just a cheap attempt at trying to sound like their older selves... by playing music written 15 years ago.
i dig it. it sounds like them. and its a nice retrospective. id like to see their next release be like how testament did demonic or the gathering. just make a ****ing neardeath metal album thats heavy as shit.
kinda sad about the re-used songs (as much as i love black swan) but if that's what they want to do, i'm not gonna argue. still think i'm looking forward to new Dream Theater more... just a few more days
Wow, the guitars sound good. Dave's vocals finally sound like he has balls, and the solos dont sound like puke from the guitar! Cant wait for this album!
I just hope they make more songs with unconventional song structures, like those found on Rust in Peace, instead of songs just following verse-chorus pattern.but public enemy was pretty good though!
Has no-one figured out that Metallica and Megadeth are actually two different bands? Saying this or that album by one band is like/unlike this or that album by the other is an exercis ein futility. Like it or don't like it, no point in saying one is objectively better than the other.
Personally, I might be getting old but I am fairly happy for Megadeth to keep doing what they do (he does?). No need to change, wouldn't be Megadeth then. Risk was a change and it turned out to be a pile of junk.
I think the track's actually pretty good, the vocals are eh, but I wasn't ever huge on Mustaine's vocals(I love the screams at the beginning and end of the Loved To Deth demo, but otherwise, eh...), and it's certainly better than most of Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia IMO. But, then, I thought SFSGSW blew Peace Sells out of the water...I'll have to check out the rest of the album when it's out.

I thought it was a pretty good album for what it was. Same goes for cryptic writings, but as much as i love those albums im not really sure that megadeth could get away with anything like that with the new lineup.

Risk is okay if you listen to it for what it is without comparing it to earlier stuff. On another note this sounds great.
That album artwork is ugly and the name is just...not clever(?) The song sounds alright, but sounds sort of like most mainstream metal. I don't get it.

I definitely think Risk is a good album. I mean how many thrash albums can someone listen to?? Nothing wrong with change. That album was a shock at first but i'm liking it a lot now.

Are these the same songs?
Dave had a webchat right after the announcement of the album artwork and single release date. He was asked about this, and answered as follows:
[take no pensioners] Dave, quick question on the tracklist for the new album. Is New World Order, Millenium of the Blind
and Black Swan completely reworked or similar to what we've heard before? Looking forward to hearing what you've done.
[megaman] reworked. NWO is kinda close, but the other two are pretty different
Ahh looks like you might be fading Dave. This is NOTHING new... and the main riff is used in another Megadeth song almost note for note. The chorusy stucture is pretty brutal... hopefully the rest of the album does not disappoint. Furthermore... after your whole God is Good and Forgiveness campaign you can't be walking around saying you're invincible and unbeatable and that people who question get a bullet to the head... it's just not believeable anymore.

No no, this is Megadeth. You're thinking about Slayer.

If it comes down to trying something new and looking like an ass (ie Load/St Anger, Risk, etc, etc) or sticking with the same formula and retaining your core fan base(any Slayer, AC/DC, ect album), I'll go with sticking with the original formula.
dont be dissapointed its just the 1st mainstream song to hook ppl for possible album sales. since yknow kids dont see the point in going out and supporting there favortie bands or actually buying an album
the rest of this album wonts disapoint. hell i can almost gurantee it

Dude, Public Enemy Nº1 it's about Al Capone's life, not Mustaine's
Honestly pretty cool. Still wish they would have just done XIII instead of thirte3n. and i'm glad to see they've gone back to the original vic instead of that ****ing reimagined bullshit.
as far as songs having already been released as bonus tracks. those were all demos. now we're gonna get some studio quality stuff. besides most of those were pretty good anyway so why complain?

You can't be serious. This song is better than any song on Death Magnetic.
...and this song's not even that great (but it's the best thing I've heard from Megadeth in a while).
Pretty average song. The riffs are OK, but that's it. I can't even remember how they sounded in 5 minutes. Solos are boring. Singing is ok, but hey, anyone can "sing" in studio now.
Meh...average song. Really conservative for Megadeth standards. Sadly I don't think Dave has that "magic" anymore. Oh well I think they're still a great band to see live
candles, skulls, unreadable graffiti on a dirty wall, the number 13 and a weak version of 1337 just throwing numbers where letters should be.... one thing you can't call it is an original album hahah
LuLu will out sell this crap. Lou Reed & Metallica wayyyyy larger than crapgadeth.
someone get this metallica fanboy out of here
Why? Are you to much of a little girl to do it ur self lol lol lol little girl lolol littler girl
LULU will blow Megacrap outta here
Heheheh, troll. It's actually pretty funny.
Does "New World Order" have anything to do with the song "Endgame"? Cuz I'm pretty sure he talks about a "New World Order" in "Endgame".
Also, I remember in a Guitar World interveiw from after Endgame came out, Dave said he only had one record left in him. I hope he's changed his mind, cuz I was more Megadeth, even after Th1rt3en.
Really? Is this the best people can come up with for insults? Just go away, really, it's like somebody let a retard on the computer.
And why compare Lulu to this? Really,
Megadeth fans look like idiots comparing this to an album that is obviously not going to be close to the same genre of music. May aswell say "Dave's gonna blow Blink 182 out of the water"
And Metallica fans, STFU. I think alot of you are gonna be damn well dissapointed when you hear it if you don't get your heads around the fact that it is NOT going to sound like a Metallica album, the closest it will sound like is Load and I can imagine it still won't sound much the same.
Stop band comparing and both groups of fans just STFU or GTFO. And if you don't like a band, don't read the article or comment, simple.

well said, now seriously LULU will be a better album right ?? I meen this song is Megacrap

There were some good songs on Death Magnetic, you just need to get your head out of your ass and listen to it.
My head is mounted firmly on my shoulders.
I bought Death Magnetic when it came out. I listened to it all the way through. I didn't hear a single song on it that I cared to hear again. To me, the only redeeming factor on the album was the 5-seconds-long main riff to Cyanide .
I still possess my copy, but only because I don't like throwing away albums I paid for, and you never know, it might grow on me some day (but, honestly, I still own my copy of Theory of a Deadman's Gasoline -- essentially a shiny plastic paperweight)
All comparisons aside, it wasn't completely horrible -- it was just generic, boring, and completely lacking any interesting material. On top of that was the fact that the performances by everyone on the album were kind of lackluster -- especially the vocals and the drums (Lars' sloppiest drumming, to date)... and the lead guitar.
However, if you were to compare it to past Metallica efforts (excluding St. Anger), it just sounds like shit... and this new Megadeth song blows everything on Death Magnetic out of the water (and, again, it's not even that good).

god.. go to a metallica news for FOR LULU and all the posers are like "yeah this is great, i have a boner, metallica still metal, what a cool cover"
megadeth comes again with a good album as far as this goes, vic is on the cover again, public enemy is a good song, the artwork es great and the posers are like "this sucks, there are old songs in there (WHICH MUSTAINE SAID THAT THEY WERE GONNA RE-MAKE HEM AGAIN)"
personally I couldn't give a F&%K about who played what or which band, so long as the guitars sound great, as for public enemy no.1 I think it sounds like a good song with some nice riffs and solos in it. The production sounds pretty good.
megadeth aren't trying anything new... same old megadeth again and again. they should experiment and evolve like ... metallica (lol) even if some people don't like what they put out and least they're evolving musically

they tried that long before metallica..hmmmm, i wonder what that album was called...OH YEAH, it was risk...and it didnt work out.
This album is the work that will tie all the other albums together.
It's meant to feel like a greatest hits that isn't a greatest hits, but a musical timeline modernized.
He loves the number 13, so this album is obviously special to him. I don't see anything wrong with this album and I look forward to getting it soon!
whats with everyone saying that megadeth should do something different. they did that before, its called risk and everyone bitched about how different it was from other albums. btw the only reason risk exists as it is is because lars ulrich challenged him to take risks... yeah cause everything lars says is a good idea (sarcasm)... cough cough st. anger's drums suck
HUH!?!?! Sounds nothing like Hangar 18! Wheres the massive riffage at the start and cool melodic breakdown?!
Don't get me wrong i wish it really did sound that good but it just doesn't lol
Just at the end of the first solo. I get what he means.
I like it. Not amazing. Not bad. Looking forward to the album.
yeah. my first thought was that (this song at least)sounded a lot like rust in peace.. but not totally. of course a band that has this many albums is gonna sound a lot like the same old shit, at least theyre sticking to their sound and not selling out like a lot of other bands, changing their sound for the sake of media. and honestly? dave has to be a prefectionist lol seriously consider how many versions of a tout le monde there are. and the difference between the demo on youthanasia and united abominations. who else hasnt written and re-written a song? i like that he puts all of these tacks out, even if it gets repetitive it shows his growth as a musician. its inspiring, as far as im concerned.
bout time they released new world order. I wonder if it will be the exact same new world order that was released in the remastered Youthanasia album, as a bonus track. One of my favourite Megadeth songs, and most people haven't even heard it.

Tried that long before Metallice... are u serious, Metallica came out with Justice, Black Album, Load, Reload, which are all different from one another dramaticly and also all were released before Megadeth Risk in 1999. Megadeth is extreamly repetitive, Nothing new since Countdown. Maybe you don't like Metallica but don't tell me that Megadeth has experimented in anyway musicaly, They are defenitly very repetitive and that is why they don't sell as many albums as they use to. They are predictable and have become boring.
The Symphony, thats EXPERIMENTAL
LULU thats EXPERIMENTAL
Even Garage INC, is experimental with some remakes of BOB SEGER and LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
I haven't been able to take Megadeth seriously in a long time. Ah well, the classics are still classics. I'm past the point where I'm sitting around waiting for them, or the rest of the big 4, to release something vital again. There's so much better and ultimately more rewarding metal.
I agree, the covers looks pretty awesome but I am not a fan of the title. But hey, it's not about what it looks like or what it's called, it's how it sounds.
To be honest, it's kind of funny that after all these years no matter what happens, people always compare megadeth and metallica in basically every piece of news about either band. As far as albums go, they've both released some great albums of past years (Death Magnetic, Endgame). I personally cannot wait for Thirteen to come out, and I quite liked Public Enemy.

But rather than just 13, Thirteen or XIII (Best option of em all, but Mushroomhead was 9 years earlier ), they go for the worst version of it all: letters combined with numbers. barf
I agree that the title of the album is kinda offbeat, but hey, artwork is really cool and similar thing has happened to them before(Killing is my business had kinda weak artwork but the title made it work... It was even for themselves so). I personally dig this single, it has something that hooks me, nevermind that "average and similar riffs etc". Really excited and waiting for the album. Will definitely buy this one.
For me Megadeth are going steadily downhill with each release. Mustaines lyrics are getting to the point that they're just plain silly, and the composition is stale and uninspired.
I'd hoped they would end it while they were still good and bearable, but every other year they seem to want to churn out "The new Rust in Peace" or "The best record since Countdown to Extinction".
It's awful seeing a band you love go down to toilet like this, so I hope they give it up soon before it gets too ridiculous.
I don't like the production, it's too chaotic and sounds too computerized (it can be this "YouTube effect" though, we'll see). I also hope that Millenium of the Blind and New World Order aren't the same songs given to us on Youthanasia, only with better production.
Don't like the sound. Sounds way better live. It's a bit muddy imho.
But the song is cool. Nothing really great but it gives me hope for the rest of the album

I kinda agree with this comment. The way i find megadeth they will release maybe 2 or 3 really good albums on a trot then release 2/3/4 on a trot which are quite lame. For example peace sells,so far, rust and extinction rock. Then [in my humble opinion ofcours]i didnt really enjoy youthanasia, cryptic, risk, world needs a hero and system has failed. But really enjoyed united abominations and endgame.I think 13 could be enjoyable.I hope so.

Chris overrated? perhaps you just don't know anything about play guitar, or making music. The guy is easily one the best guitar players on the planet.
Now, as for this album: There are about 5songs on here that aren't new. So yes, we could almost consider this to be a B-sides album. There so people who are saying Public enemy sounds like Hangar 18. seriously dudes, they sound pretty much nothing alike, except they both have guitars, vocals, bass, and drums.

I'm laughing so hard at you that I'm not even going to directly respond to that comment hahahaha
Idk what's wrong with people... Public Enemy #1 sounds great, and I heard all the old songs on youtube, no complains, great songs that I did not know about till now. Megadeth has many metal styles in their arsenal, just listen to the music, it doesn't make sense to compare it with their old masterpieces, or even worse to compare it with Metallica wich is a musical inferior band.
lol everybody dissed the album title, and now that they've got this kickass cover, it seems pretty cool. hope its like UA, i don't think endgame was as good :/
Sudden Death
Public Enemy No. 1
New World Order
Black Swan
Millennium Of The Blind
Also had a glimpse of Never Dead
Heard all of these before the release, seems like there's not much left to get excited about for when they do release the album.
This goes in my list of my favorite Megadeth album covers alongside with Peace Sells, So Far So Good...So What, The World Needs a Hero, and Killing Is My Business
Sudden Death
Public Enemy No. 1
New World Order
Black Swan
Millennium Of The Blind
Also had a glimpse of Never Dead
Heard all of these before the release, seems like there's not much left to get excited about for when they do release the album.
well now you can hear ALL of Never Dead. That makes a total of 7 new songs to look forward to
I mean, Millenium of the blind was a bonus track on Youthanasia, New world order was too (i think), and black swan is a bonus on some United abominaions version.
Are these the same songs?
