Megadeth’s upcoming twelfth studio album wrapped up last week and is currently slated for a September release date. This album will be the first to feature new guitarist Chris Broderick, who took the time to post his feelings about the album on the band’s website.
He writes, I can't believe the way the whole thing came together. It has a unique and original sound that I don't think could have come together with any other group of people. From Dave [Mustaine’s] snarling vocals, to James [Lomenzo’s] huge bass sound and Shawn [Drover’s] dead accurate drumming, it is just relentless, and with Andy [Sneap] producing, it focused the sound and direction of the CD."
He adds, "
I feel lucky to be a part of it. For one thing it definitely did was make me expand and play in different styles. I can't wait for the release and I hope all of you find something in it you like."
Broderick also writes about a chance meeting between him and Grammy-award winning guitarist Scott Tennant. He writes, "Now that I have had a minute to breath after finishing the CD, I wanted to tell you guys about the opportunity I had to meet one of my favorite guitarists, Grammy award winner Scott Tennant. If you like classical guitar you should give this guy a listen either solo or with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet which he performs with regularly. My sneaky girlfriend told me she wanted to take me out to dinner but wouldn’t tell me where so I went along with it just thinking she was going to take me to a special restaurant."
He goes on, "Well when we got there we walked up to the front door and she stopped and said to what I thought at the time was a complete stranger “Your already here” and at that moment I was thinking what is going on because I didn’t recognize him. She then introduced me to Scott and I was taken back and could think of nothing to say Ahahaha. Through the course of dinner though, we started to talk guitar, and now I think we are going to get together and Jam… Should be fun!"
Megadeth’s latest album was produced by previous collaborator Andy Sneap.
