Megadeth: 'Rust In Peace' Hits Rock Band Store Next Week

All the tracks from Megadeth's iconic 1990 album "Rust In Peace" will be added to the Rock Band Music Store on Tuesday, Harmonix has announced.

The tracks will be available for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Rock Band.

The album is available for the 360 and Wii on Tuesday (February 9), and for PS3 on Thursday (February 11). There are nine tracks in all, and they'll be available for $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU, or 160 Microsoft Points or 200 Wii Points per track. The whole album is $14.99, £7.49 UK, €10.99 EU or 1200 Microsoft Points.

"Rust In Peace", commonly cited among the top 5 of the metal genre's most influential works, joins Megadeth's "Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying?" from 1986 on the Music Store.

A statement announcing the new DLC notes that Megadeth kicks off a month-long "Rust In Peace 20th Anniversary Tour" in March; they'll be joined by Testament and Exodus.

Well dude, they can play the entire RIP album. Jsut like we listen to it, through that game. They are technically listening to the songs, jsut as we did when we got into them before these games. And who knows, it might get them to go out and buy other albums, thus spawning new fans. Give them a break. My younger brother has gotten into bands through guitar hero and such, and has become pretty big fans of lots of them, through a game. So I don't really see what the problem is exposing these badass songs to a younger generation. Don't you think it would help carry on the legacy of this music?

ive always liked games like rock band and guitar hero, and things like this are the damn reason! i mean, i love playing megadeth on my guitar, but singing, playing the bass, drums AND the guitar seems pretty ****ing awesome, dont you think? especially when you play it, youre playing the real song with the entire "band", not just by yourself.

yeah well, long ago I realized that their is a big difference between being mainstream and commercial. One involves your music being big. The other involves changing your music to get more fans. Megadeth might be mainstream, but they are not commercial, well at least not anymore...

Oh of course I know what you mean. I've had plenty of buddies come over and be like, "dude let me show you how I can ace Raining Blood on expert!!." I then just pick up the real guitar, and say "show me." I can do all the shit on expert to be honest, but at the same time, I can play the majority of all the songs flawlessly on guitar. But yeah, I know what you mean, it can get annoying hearing about it so often.

You know, it's more annoying hearing people like you bitching about how these games are ruining music. If anything, they're helping it; introducing people to new bands and inspiring the more outgoing players to learn a real instrument.

I think its so funny, I see more people bragging about "I can play this on real guitar" than I ever hear someone go "I can beat this on expert". And people make it seem like its the other way around. Guitar Hero is what convinced me to play guitar. Fuck, I learned Raining Blood on guitar before I beat it on Expert. Honesty no one is going to be talking about it, only people who like Megadeth are going to download it. Its not like its a whole game for Megadeth. Im not a big rock band fan. I play guitar and i even a a Dean VMNT (I im pretty good at it, but i dont care if you think so) but i do play this game every once in awhile for the drums. Its not like every one in the world can play every instrument. Thats why it makes a great party game. Stop being like "OMG THEY PRETEND THEY ARE PLAYING GUITAR THEY ARE SOOOOO GAY" You act like they are zombies trying to take over music.
