no doubts. Thats pretty much a shot across Metallica's bow, but Dave's been doing that since he was fired.
And yes, this new album will be spectacular. Chris Broderick's musicality will just completely slaughter. And I'm pretty sure that no Megadeth lead guitarist has had 2 degrees in music like Chris does (1 in theory, and I think another in classical guitar, not sure tho). SO, I think this next album will be RIP calibre.

I love how megadeth doesn't make a big deal about their records, they don't wait a million years. They record it, tour, break, and then start over. imo Thrash Metal is completely individual, WHo plays it and who doesn't? For exmaple comparing Slayer to any of the other thrash bands they dont sound ANYTHING alike. Metallicas music is also very different from each album. Same with Megadeths. It's almost impossible imo to say: "these guys play thrash metal"
I'd rather call it Megadeth Metal :p

Couldn't agree more. Chris is just unbelievable, once people start to find out who he is i think Megadeth will gain some popuarity back. And hopefully sell more than 160,000 copies next time...(U.A. was a great altum by the way). I don't get why Megadeth isn't more popular than they are, I know they kinda died off in the late 90's and obviously Dave is the only original member, but they still kick the shit out of most metal bands today, hands down.

ya man i couldnt agree more either, i mean just listen to every damn song they have almost, the lyrics are always ****ing great, the music is always great and complex. seriously song for song and album for album they should prolly be in the top 5 best bands ever. they never cease to amaze me or surprise me. and as for the no taking a million years to record, well heres the reason why dave can write lyrics and songs alot better than metallica. hell he said he has ****ing notebooks full of songs that will never be used.

I don't see anything wrong with making a sort of "fly on the wall" dvd. Sure Metallica did it. But it doesn't really seem like something to complain about. It's more about the fans then the ego. I mean if they decided to make a black album and write a song called Enter Tooth Fairy. THEN we got a problem.

why are people still comparing Deth to Metallica? Just becuase Dave doesnt need half a decade to put out an album, and it just so happens that he's recording around the same time as Death Magnetic comes out. Big deal. Anyways, atleast Dave is keeping real music alive by steadily coming out with some of the best albums ever made since 1981. (yes. quote me. 1981). Hes the Jimmy Page of Metal. theres just now way around it.

You guys are both ****ing idiots. People have been making things like this long before Metallica even conceived it. I'm pretty sure the Beatles did something like this. Red Hot chili Peppers did it in the early 90's, and Megadeth did it in '94. The only difference is Metallica made a huge deal out of it, as if people care that now we can see them bitch in the studio, instead of reading it 6 months down the track.

I agree with the person who said he hopes Chris doesn't go overboard with the shred on the new album. I mean, his tapping is awesome and amazing, but I can easily see it getting repetitive if used excessively. I'm more for melodic, yet blazing solos like Friedman used to play. I hope Chris puts his music knowledge to good use on this album.

At least they make it there priority to record. Metallica waits years for an album to come out, driving fans to the verge of suicide waiting for Death Magnetic.
That's why Megadeth has released 11 studio albums in 23 years and Metallica has released 9 studio albums in 25 years. Megadeth works harder than Metallica and their music is more technical. (I am not talking bad about Metallica, I just want to make sure everybody knows that)

hmmm not copying anyone dave?

Not Really, a lot of bands have made videos of making an album, Metallica is very popular from Some Kind Of Monster, and now "the-fly-on-the-wall." if Megadeth does something like that which they did with U.A (they never said about releasing it) hopefully they will release a dvd of making the album. i will love watching that dvd. Megadeth has never let me down. Love em to Deth.

my view on the matter with Chris is quite simple. Personally, I think he will add a tasty new lemon wedge to Megadeths musical capabilities, however were he to make it worse than before, I wouldnt really care that much, because the only album which was dare I say mediocre by Megadeth thus far was Risk, UA was awesome, and for old metal bands its rare that the new stuff sounds good, mega success or mega fail, I'll always have those 11 other albums to listen to, which are filled to the brim with nothing but pure musical genious. And yes, I would be very happy if Chris implemented some acoustic pieces into the new songs.
