I guess it doesn't really matter if it is coming out early as long as it isn't pushed back any..

its not "Death is not the End", its "The End of the Line" and it sounds nothing like "The New Song". I d/led the album leak, but pre-ordered my copy ages ago, so I think its cool! XD

thank you monster of rock for the correction , but u do make me feel like a fool. in my defence that was the name of the downloaded song and i didnt give it a second thought..... [ goes and dusts of 'tallicas back catalgoue and begins intense study to refresh memory to avoid future mistakes]

You got that right...everyone needs to buy this album cuz I know I'm gonna buy it....twice. The coffin box set and the physical CD when it comes out. It will knock you on your ass from the first riff til the end of My Apocalypse. Congrats to Metallica for putting out such a great album.

I downloaded the whole album already just out of curiosity, but I'm still gunna buy the album. In my opinion the whole album is absolutely amazing.

Okay seriously if you've only heard a couple songs you have to listen to the whole album.

The last 3 songs are much better than the first 3 they released. I still think its a mediocre metal album with all the other good stuff coming out. The almost unknown new All That Remains album will blow this away.

My Apocalypse makes me want to listen to Master of Puppets album.

It's sad that their new stuff is a return to form, but still makes you want to spin their old stuff again.

I downloaded the full album last night, but i am still going to buy the Coffin Box bc 'Tallica definitely deserves the money this time. THIS ALBUM COMPLETELY KICKS @$$!!!!!. When i heard The Day that Never Comes on the radio, i was disappointed, but after hearing the first 2 songs off the album, i was completely blown away!! This album reminds me of the old Metallica with a modern sound. Death Magnetic completely blows the Black Album, and all the recent albums out of the water. I am very conviced that this will be the best album of 2008.
PS- I can't wait to see them this winter in Chicago!

just one person's opinion, yours, and you can't believe other people like it? i've heard 6 of the 10 songs and i like them all. so let me say this, i am not at all surprised that some people don't like it even though i think it's great so far. moral of the story, get over yourself.

All Nightmare Long is possibly one of the best Metallica song's created, ever.

And I'm not just saying that. I'm basing that on the fact that I have listened to every Metallica song, own all of the albums (and have DM pre-ordered, yet have d/led it), and it is quite possibly one of the best songs they've written.

POSTED: 09/05/2008 - 09:07 pm / quote |

I completely agree with you Mr. Mootalica!
All Nightmare Long kicks my ass soooo hard every time i hear it. my favorites so far are End of the Line, All Nightmare Long, and That Was Just Your Life (in that order)

yeah same here. idk, there's a war goin on inside my head saying "hey MetallicA wanted you to wait until the 12th!" but another part is saying "dude you waited 5 years for a new album and it's only a week early!" idk, i made a CD with a few songs on it. i might finish it up later. can't wait till the box set hits my front door

he/she probably wants to buy it the day it comes out just because he/she is a huge fan. i'm taking my friend to buy it but i'm just going so i can say i was there :P that and i wanna go to some guitar shops but it's hella far away. closest music store is over 50 miles away so i'm gonna make them pitch in on gas

i've heard every song on the album, i feel kinda bad about it but i have to say, an album this awesome is impossible to contain! this is their best album yet. the guitars sound awesome, the drums are nice and deep(kinda wish the snare was a little higher though but that's just me :P) and the bass was awesome! Rob didn't constantly follow the guitar part, he did his own thing which is cool. Kirk's style changed and his solos are crazy. can't wait till there's a tab book for it, hopefully it's coming in the box set and they just didn't mention it but i doubt it haha

I couldn't agree more. Its almost impossible to nail the best ever Metallica song, but All Nightmare long would be up there. Its got the riffage of Justice and the catchyness of Black. The chorus section definately puts you in the vibe. Its like if Enter Sandman was in ...And Justice for All. My god this album is hardcore!

The main riff in Broken, Beat & Scarred just redeemed all the horsesh*t they've released in the last 18 years.

My god. I'll be cranking this disc in my car for the next year!

I like how everyone who visits here is automatically an expert a producing top-notch albums. Seriously dude, grow up, you wouldn't know what a good album sounded like if Dark Side was reissued as a Quadraphonic with a 10.0 mix.

1. That was just your life: Awesome opening for this album. Sets a fantastic powerfull tone for the rest of it. It reminds me of the black album...
2. The end of the line: Based on te 1st "new song" performed live in several 2008 gigs. Much better than the early version. Totally kick ass track which reminds me of the Justice album
3. Broken, Beat and Scarred: Oh yeah ... this one totally rocks. Main riff is blowing me away ... wanna pick me up my guitar and pump up the volume. Has some mixtures between Kill 'em all and the black album.
4. The day that never comes: Awesome track with great 2nd part. Kinda like Sanitarium and One
5. All nightmare long: Ooohhh maaaan ... excellent! Best one of the album. Kill 'em all over again. Reminded me of Whiplash somehow.
6. Cyanide: Actually my least favorite of the album, but nevertheless great riffing on some parts ... Has a Justice feel in it ...
7. The Unforgiven III: Very worthy next in line of this trilogy. Couldn't think of a 'Tallica song with piano ... but it actually does fit very well. This songs stands on his own, very Death Magnetic (lol).
8. The Judas Kiss: Excellent song. Could've been on the Justice album, many years ago. Has a Load feeling it too (Bridge wise I mean). But the chorus in this song blows you away!
9. Suicide and Redemption: What can I say ... their first instrumental in quite some time. I think it's their best instrumental. Still has the Justice vibe, with some Lightning influences I guess. Brilliant!
10. My Apocalypse: Oh my God ... what a fantastic track, which could survive Master of Puppets easily. This song reminds me the most of this album. Great finishing track!

To put it together ... James' riffing on this album absolutely rules. A true RIFFMASTER! His voice is not as powerfull like in the Justice/Black era... But I can surely live with that.
Kirk's solo's are ... well ... mindblowing. Absolutey fanf*ckingtastic these solo's are there again! Missed them!
Rob's bass is kick-ass ... Contributed greatly on this album. Better than Newsted. Not only following the riffs on this album, but definitely Rob has found a way to do his own thingy here ...
Lars' drumming is sounding great once again ... Sounding alive and kicking! Not like the critisized "st anger tin can sound", but a METAL drumsound!

I give this album a 9/10, because it's close to giving me the same WOW feel of Machine Head's The Blackening when I first heard it.
I hope METALLICA is continuing this line of work! Their best since .... pre-black album .... This album could have easily been released 20 years ago.
But it has it's own NEW vibe in it!

LOVE IT
