In terms of live, they are not nearly as good as they used to be, you only need to look on youtube to see this.

Set list could be better too

I agree, the fact that they have songs like "Harvester of Sorrow", "Motorbreath", and "Stone Cold Crazy" is the downfall, That was just your life was great live when i saw them, and the shortest straw is the one they should've put on there, that was amazing! No wherever i may roam?!? seriously! Or Battery or sanitarium or FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS?!?!?

I'm surprised they decided to do a DVD of a show from their current tour that didn't accurately represent the tour as a whole. For example, nearly every show they have done so far has started with "That Was Just Your Life" and "The End of the Line" yet for this show they began with "Blackened" and "Creeping Death." I'm not saying those are bad songs or anything (I wish they had played those when I saw them) but I don't know if they should have organized the set list this way for the show they were planning to release on DVD.

Having said that, though, it still looks like it was a good show and I'll probably end up getting it for Christmas.

Metallica are amazing live, maybe not the most tight, but they put on one hell of a show.
The o2 in March was my 3rd favourite gig, then AC/DC at Wembley '09 then Maiden at twickenham '08 and Earls Court '06 joint first place!
Good stuff!

How many times a day / week do you listen to those songs? Do you really expect Metallica to play those songs at every single concert they do over a 25 year period? It's actually refreshing to me that For Whom the Bell Tolls isn't on the set list so no one has to listen to the same, over done, end of song solo Kirk always does.

How many people will see Metallica live a lot? If I was seeing them live I would want to see all the big hits live, not something less popular.

saw them in atlanta a few weeks ago. best live band i have ever seen. sure james's voice doesn't sound as good anymore and kirk is kind of sloppy nowadays, but they have so much energy onstage. even if you're way up in the nose bleeds, they find a way to connect to you. not many bands can do that.

I really don't care for Lars live. He drifts tempos and isn't all that tight. As professional musicians I would think Metallica as a band would notice it and correct the problem. I guess that's just too much to ask from some (or his) inflated egos.

I used to like Metallica, but Lars and Kirk really irritate me now. Just something about them makes them hard for me to listen to.

So you expect them to play the same wore out songs all the time? You're out of your mind man. How bout you try doing it, hell not even to play them, but listen to the same song at least twice a day for 25 years and then come back and tell me how ya feel about it. They want to have a good time on stage and be able to give that energy every night to the fans and that means changing the set list so they don't get bored.

When you're in a band you are a product, the public wants to hear your best stuff, they don't give a shit how bored you are of it.

Go see them or not, I'd still go to one of their concerts if they only played the entire Reload album.

Come to think of it, is their a dvd of them in the 80's? That would have been sick, them performing Puppets and the Justice album, still in their prime.

anybody else think this guy is a tard?
Lars plays too fast?
the complaint is usually the opposite

dissapointed by the plan of the stage?
does that matter? the stage set-up doesnt change how the music is played so why complain?

Metallica are being too old?
its called time, you cant move it backward slow it down or speed it up. translation: theres nothing we or they can do about aging, deal with it

Wtf is this bullshit? I just saw them three days ago with Gojira and Lamb of God in Charlottesville and this setlist is WAY better, except for the fact that they excluded That Was Just Your Life and The End of the Line. They didn't play All Nightmare Long (the ONE song from Death Magnetic I was sure they would play and I was SOOO pumped for), Harvester of Sorry, Dyer's Eve or Motorbreath. Instead, they played My Apocalypse (which I was never a fan of) in that spot, Trapped Under Ice in Motorbreath's spot, and those two songs from the new album first.

Still, it was one Hell of a show, and DAMN, even if James definitely can't sing as well live anymore and it was clear that most of the stuff he said between songs was clearly the same things he said every night, there was a TON of energy and it was super fun to watch. I can't say that they're as godly as they used to be, but I at least REALLY respect them.

Ugh, Metallica playing Kill Em' All songs. With James's current vocals, they just do not sound right at all. At least they put Dyer's Eve on there. I have grown away from Metallica a little while ago so I most likely won't buy this and just look up a couple of songs on youtube.

Any famous band should be able to play what covers they like, though they should do whiskey in the jar more often.

S&D is a standard closing/encore song for them, plus it gives the crowd one last time to mosh, get crazy, etc. whereas FtB would not really have a big bang for going out with.
I'm hoping they encore with "the Prince" when I see them - that song is sweet!

Now I don't agree with the fact that they're products, they do what they want. All I said was that they should've put better songs on it for a DVD such as this. By the way, I didn't mean to put Harvester of sorrow on my "don't" list, that's better live in my opinion, maybe not now cause i've never seen them play it live, but on youtube it's way cool. Broken, Beat, and Scarred is the one I didn't want. Too annoying.

However there is a point he has when no one really cares i they're bored or not. They just want to hear the music.

Dyers eve and blackened... I'm picking this up.
They are an amazing live act, sure they might **** a few things up every now and then, but they are easily the best band to watch, they are so damn entertaining. James is such an amazing frontman. Just watch live shit binge and purge for proof ;P

In terms of live, they are not nearly as good as they used to be, you only need to look on youtube to see this.

are you kidding me? have you even seen metallica live lately? For years they'd never play dyers eve live, i can't believe you said that! Metallica are in their prime when it comes to performing now!

Set list could be better too

How stupid are they to only release this in France and on some site? I thought Lars was against illegal downloading? Releasing it like that pretty much guarantees it.Really? I have no idea where he would get any thought that this is illegal, probably because IT ISN'T! It's their website, SELLING the DVD on their website, nothing illegal about it, so therefore your comment is officially retarded.

Yea guys, I officially declare myself the retard police of UG. BEWARE!

I'm saying that them not selling it in normal stores guarantees that more people are just gonna download it instead of having to order it off the internet and pay shipping and handling and all that crap.

Great! What a daft idea, only releasing in stores in France! The track listing looks great too.. guess i'll have to order online but i think Metallica scored an own goal when they made the "only in france" move. Or i could just wait until its onj youtube. :p

it could be, if they played for like 4 hours. sure there is no battery, sanitarium or for whom the bell tolls, but there is still stuff like blackened, dyers eve, creeping death, puppets, one, fade to black etc. still a hell of a lot of great songs
