Chris Daughtry, and the band which shares his last name, will release Leave This Town on July 14. However, while the multi-platinum 2006 self-titled record from Daughtry was written and recorded with session musicians, Leave This Town is a collaboration between all five members of the band.
Ex-American Idol contestant Daughtry is joined by guitarists Josh Steely and Brian Craddock, bassist Josh Paul and drummer Joey Barnes in the group. Billboard reports that Daughtry, Steely and Craddock wrote together on several new songs, while Nickelback's Chad Kroeger co-wrote the lead single, "No Surprise."
Billboard reports that
Leave This Town stylistically runs from the ballad "
Life After You" to the Country-Rock tune "
Tennessee Line," featuring a contribution from
Vince Gill, to the
Alice In Chains-ish "
You Don't Belong."
Daughtry will play 15 shows this summer for fan club members and contest winners, before kicking off a massive, 100-date tour of North America in September.
