Hammerfall, who are well known for releasing a number of high quality albums full of excellent material, have become what could easily be considered one of Sweden’s most successful and talented metal bands. The group is now preparing a new studio album, which they plan to release sometime next year.
This new album will be the first since 2009’s critically acclaimed “
No Sacrifice, No Victory” and is, according the band, even heavier than previous records. They, along with successful producer James Michael, will be entering the studio in a couple of weeks and plan to have the album ready for release sometime in 2011 (on May 20th in Europe).
Oscar Dronjak, who is one of the guitarists as well as the founder of the group, talks a bit about what some of the upcoming songs are like: “The new material contains a lot of fresh ways to look at [our] musical ideas. We’re trying to preserve the essence of what Hammerfall is while at the same time updating the execution and approach. Definitely heavier and less straight-forward than the previous albums, yet remaining true to what we believe heavy metal is all about.”
This will be the first time since 2002 that Hammerfall will be working with a producer other than Charlie Bauerfeind. James Michael, who the band finally settled on as a new producer, is famous for his work with groups like Scorpions, Mötley Crüe, and Papa Roach, and will surely prove to be an adequate replacement.
Hammerfall have proven themselves to be an extremely skilled band full of great musicianship through consistently writing and releasing great metal, and hopefully they will be able to continue to enjoy the same success that they’ve experienced in the past once again with this upcoming album.
