New Kiss Album To Be Released In September

Kiss guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley has told Brazil's O Dia Online that the band's new LP will be released in September. He also described it as "a classic Kiss album" and a throwback to the "Destroyer" and "Love Gun" songwriting style bit with modern production.

Kiss bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons recently confirmed the group's first album since 1998's "Psycho Circus" is being produced by Stanley. "I don't have enough time to tie my shoelaces and there's nobody else I trust more than Paul," Simmons told RollingStone.com.

Regarding the sound of the new material, Simmons said, "There's nothing to prove to anybody. We're not interested in musical trends or anything else. We're too long in the tooth for that. So it's going to be sort of a classic '70s rock and roll vibe. Meat and potatoes. You know, sometimes you just want to go out and have a meat and potatoes thing [and] forget the French dressing."

According to Amazon.com, Universal will release a new Kiss live album called "Authorized Bootleg - Nashville Municipal Auditorium 1998" on May 26. No further details are currently available.

Thanks for the report to Blabbermouth.net.

It's either going to be really good, or be 'meh'.

I'm sure it won't suck, because Simmons would just veto it.

Shalom!! Just for the record: there are plenty of KISS fans in Portugal that never seen their favourite band and don't have money to travel to Spain to see a KISS concert!!! What are you going to do about it, Mr. Simmons?? Perhaps, a KISS fest with some others cool acts would be nice.. Doesn't it make you wonder, who should i thank God for the CDs... God bless

I recall Simmons saying that he won't make another album because he won't make enough money off of it due to downloads. I guess somebody finally explained to him what was wrong with that logic.

There is so many things wrong with what you just said. Obviously you have never see a live video of Kiss with Tommy because you would have noticed the sound more together and solid then ever before. Tommy puts on more of a show than Ace ever will. I mean, I have no problem with Ace but he is just boring to watch.

Because Paul Stanley is one of the most impressive vocalists I've ever heard. He goes a LOT higher than most people think, because his voice is so deep that it sounds like he sings lower than he actually does. In the song My Way for example he hits an F# over high C. In chest voice. The amount of males who can pull that off can pretty much be counted on one hand.

That, and the fact that they've made a whole lot of great songs during the years. But you'd have to listen to the actual albums to find them. And listen to the right albums, as a 40-year old carreer is bound to produce some less-than stellar albums aswell.

There's plenty of reason; they were great players.

Randy Rhoads hasn't been with Ozzy for over 25 years (sure, due to death, but still) and people still say we wish that he was still with Ozzy.

G?? Are you kidding? His home base is usually around B, and he tends to go a lot higher. I know there are special techniques involved in singing like he does, but if it's not chest voice, what is it?

Try like 5 years, dipshit.

Ace and Peter rejoined around '96 and were playing with them up until about 5 years ago. Thats why it was a big deal to see Kiss during that period - cause it was the original lineup!

i dont mind them, they did make a few catchy songs, but i will say, however, they do seem way overrated, at least in this day and age
especially now that all we hear of is how gene loves money and how he thinks he's like the jesus of rock and how many hookers he's ****ed and how hot his wife USED to be (before the face lift lol)
the way i see it, this could either be like one of the greatest records of the century, OR just end up being another chinese democracy lol

I've been a huge KISS fan since the mid 80's and yes it was cool that they reunited with the make-up in the late 90's to celebrate one of the best KISS era's to date. But for me, Paul, Gene, Eric Carr and Bruce are the KISS. When Eric Carr passed away It was devastating but Eric Singer did a fine job replacing Him. One of the most underrated KISS albums to date- CARNIVAL OF SOULS. I'd love to see Paul, Gene, Bruce and Eric record an album without the make-up and concentrate what really matters, MUSIC. I think this whole merchandise and marketing of KISS is overkill. For me there is only two guitarists of KISS. Ace Frehley (make-up era) and Bruce Kulick (non make-up era) Bruce you shred and I miss you.
