New Shinedown Album Is 'Gonna Be Interesting'

The Pulse of Radio reports: It's going to be at least another year until Shinedown gets into the studio to record its fourth album, but when the band finally does get down to work, it will be the first record to feature guitarist Zach Myers and bass player Eric Bass as full-time members of the lineup.

Drummer Barry Kerch told The Pulse of Radio that he's looking forward to making a full album with both. "Eric and Zach are extremely talented and have great ideas," he said.

"I don't think it's gonna change Shinedown necessarily, it's always gonna sound like Shinedown, especially with Brent (Smith)'s voice, you know, it's always gonna be Shinedown. But yeah, I think we're gonna have a lot more, you know, piano and synth tracks like we did on this record, but maybe even a little bit more since both Eric and Zach are piano players. It's gonna be interesting, definitely gonna be interesting."

The band is still on the road behind "The Sound Of Madness", which has sold almost a million copies and features the singles "Devour" and "Second Chance".

Interesting is a very vague word. Reminds me of the chinese curse "May you live in interesting times".

Piano? Not ballads I hope.

Call me was a sick song, and the ballad era inspired a lot of people to not make ballads and make better music. Without shitty ballads we may never have gotten GnR, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, RHCP. Shinedow is a good band, they've put out three pretty good albums, so far with only one bad song "What a Shame". Out of an ocean of shit, they're the one good hard rock band out right now. I don't think they'll let us down.

i don't care if there are any differences in the music, so long as it has the original sound of Shinedown

Ballads were around before the era of crappy 80's ones, I highly doubt groups like Soundgarden were heavily influenced by that crap. Frankly, if one has listened to Shinedown, the latest record was missing a certain feel(which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your point of view), the reason for that is the loss of the original guitarist. Frankly, there were some good songs on the latest album in my opinion, but they did seem to be missing a certain sound common to previous material. And while it had some good rockers, guitar-wise, they didn't stick out that much at times. In my opinion they have lost some of their original sound with the loss of the original guitarist, but thankfully vocally they are still as strong as ever.

not really Sound Of Madness, and Devour, were made by the original guitarist, and probably the some of rest but thats wat was played live while showcasing them before recording them..

Rumour has it that Jasin recorded the whole album, then when he was ejected, they re-recorded his parts using session players.
