this will just be like oasis but with different musicians. pointless. that's similar to robert plant's plan to release a solo album with jimmy page on guitar, john paul jones on bass and john bonham on drums.

it shall be good, maybe better than the current oasis seeing as he doesn't have to put the other peoples song on like at the end of DOYS and he won't have to right "rock" songs for liam, it can be mellow

Arrogant as he is, he'll never admit that he's a great guitar player. it's even said so in that rolling stone article. that's why he has great respect for Ryan Adams, blah blah...

anyways, solos are one thing that I zone out to. so I probably won't even give it a try

gallagher, get over yourself. when you were piss poor you wrote some good songs about being skint and working class in england, and getting drunk with your mates.
Now you're rich and just write babbling lyrics about nothing in particular that don't make sense half the time.
if you remembered what it was like to be not very rich maybe you could write some good songs again. as it stands you're an arrogant, pompous, up your own backside, rude and uninteresting person writing crap.

he even makes it sound like its such a momentous event that he may bring a solo album out... ""There are songs that have just fallen by the wayside that are still great but have missed their moment. Like Stop The Clocks, for instance. That needs to come out soon."

needs to? i don't think so... you're a paul weller wannabe but you can't write like paul weller, so the only thing you have going for you is your ego, and that ain't a good thing. get a grip and write something good again man, otherwise people just aren't interested any more.

goodbye

i'd love to hear some acoustic songs written and sung by noel. i absolutely loved his performance in paris, and i hope his album will be somwhat similar.
IMO, he has great songwriting abilities, and i admire him for that.

He may be arrogant etc. but..

To me MTV Unplugged: Oasis was much better. Since Liam didn't turn up, Noel had to do all the songs and I thought they were an awful lot better!

If this album does come out I will definitely give it a listen

most american 'music' fans dont get this type of indie rock music thats built around chord structure rather than riffs.
Oasis are the most important band of the 15 years, and theyre by far the biggest band in Britain and Ireland combined which is all that matters really. Most people dont get Noel Gallagher's humour, you'd hav to hear him rather than read what he's saying to get what he's saying. Yes he's arrogant but he's right to be, his band recently sold 1 million tickets in a day between Ireland and Britain which is phenominal.

I love Noel, he is hilarious.

Everyone who hates him for being arrogant should get a grip, why does it bother you? I am sure if you meet him in real life, he would be a very nice person.
Really it's part of his humour, he is just like Lennon used to be, but maybe a bit more cocky.

exactly i think the problem is that we always just take his quotes out of context and don't try to understand what he's trying to say. In everything i've ever read that he talks he always comes off as more sarcastic than arrogant

Is he actually going to do this or not? He's talked about it for ages and has never really got round to it, new about it tends to be on music sights quite regularly. i would actually be quite interested in this record, hopefully it will allow him to break out of the oasis mould and record a more neil youngish record.

I would absolutly love to see solo albums by both brothers, i think theyd be amazing

And i love Noel, watching him in interviews you start to get that while he is arrogant, helf the junk he says is said in jest and then taken out of context, I know people whove met him and they have all said he's a very nice respectable guy in person who loves to interact with his fans.

Liam on the otherhand....well...theres a reason why all Oasis news statements come from Noel...Liams a class act rock star and he acts like one...i love it

Have you guys even listened to the Masterplan??? Ignorant. But anyways, Noel solo album sounds sweet. He has a different singing voice than Liam so it'll be interesting...

Maybe most, but their are a good number of bands and frontmen who aren't full of themselves who put out better music than Oasis.

maybe a couple of songs like don't look back in anger, champagne supernova, talk tonight, and slide away (acoustic) will influence me to buy his "solo" album. dig out your soul didn't meet my expectations IMO although their more up-tempo songs on that album are better.

I don't really think a Noel solo album would be that great. Now a Liam solo album would be good, because I've got a feeling that recently Liam's been coming into his own as a songwriter (the two best songs on Dig Out Your Soul were his IMO) and his voice is the main reason why I love Oasis.

As for everyone saying Noel's a c**t; Of course he is. So is almost every metal frontman/guitarist, and had they done half of what Noel has they would be as bad. I love him because he isn't afraid to speak his mind, even if I don't agree with him (such as his recent comment comparing Oasis to the Stones) because we don't have enough rockers with balls today. They're all too busy getting wasted or trying to save the world.

I bet if Noel was a br00talz shredder who played everything at 500 bpm, UG's numbnut community would worship everything he says. Instead, he's one of the most talented pop songwriters of our time (just behind Kurt Cobain IMO).

Keep it up Noel, we need more like you.

Now im thinking he probably just made the oasis/stones comparison to get some hype building with this solo record.

On one hand I don't like Oasis. Never understood how they got to be so praised. They dont strike me as all that original or unique and ive heard more of their arrogant statements then I have their music.

On the other hand I never bought one of their albums so I've only heard their hits...Which I felt were rubbish but perhaps theres more to this band then I am aware of???

Either way you can't deny these two kids ego's FAR EXCEED their abilities as not only guitarists but songwriters as well.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, I swear Noel's been talking about a solo album since he first left the band for 2 weeks back in 1997. In fact, I remember queuing up outside Wembley to see them in 2000 and reading about his solo album where he had about 20 songs "on the shelf." I never understood that analogy for songs seeing as they're intangible. But hey, I was only 15.

Mark my words, Noel will never go solo. But he'll keep talking about it til he dies.

oasis have never made a bad album, the stones have made shitloads. noel is a much better writer than jagger and richards combined.

Dotsey :
i'd put Oasis on the same level as the Stones. I love the Stones but theyve done nothing major since the early 70's. Any list of 'best of' songs Oasis have would easily stand upto that of any rock going.
Dig Out Your Soul is a fantastic album, its way better than this years other efforts by so called big bands a la(the Verve, Coldplay, Killers, Gn'R, Metallica, Razorlight etc..). Oasis are the most IMPORTANT band around at the moment and theyve inspired more people and bands to pick up a guitar in the last 15 years than any other band around. Look at the amount of tickets theyve sold between Ireland and Britain for their summer stadium tour its phenominal, they play real rock music rather the tripe U2 stick out.
Noel has got some excellent songs unreleased, which will more than likely be used on the next Oasis album rather than a solo effort. He re-wrote and brought 'Let There Be Love' back to life after a spell on the shelf and there's no reason he wont do the same with say 'Stop The Clocks', 'Record Machine', 'Revolution Song', 'If There's a God' etc..

noel gallaghers solo albumn would be better than a lennon solo albumn or a mcjagger solo albumn hands down. noel is probably one of the greatest song writers of all time. He defines the term b sides. everyone knows oasis for a reason. he should put out a pure acoustic solo album though. thats where his talent truely shines. cheers noel man.
