In his recent interview, Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher has confirmed his band won't release any new material until 2007. In fact, he wouldn’t be surprised if the next album isn’t out until 2010.
Gallagher did, however, confirm that the band will release a new B-sides compilation next year collecting the flip-sides from "Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants", "Heathen Chemistry" and "Don’t Believe The Truth". He also rubbished claims the band are on the verge of releasing a "Greatest Hits".
"This is from the horse's mouth. We will only do a 'Best Of' when we split up. The only thing we’ve got that might be in the pipeline next year will be another B-sides album, all the B-sides from 'Standing…' to this lot," Noel explained to the NME.
"I never understood the Manics and Blur putting out 'Best Of's - I mean, what the f--k's all that about? It’s kind of saying that whatever you’re gonna do from there on is not gonna be your best. We'll put out a 'Best Of' when we stop. No 'Best Of' or singles album until it’s done and dusted."
He also confirmed that when the band do finally return to the studio, there won't be a huge amount of songwriting needed to be done.
"We’ll probably have the rest of [next] year out [after the tour ends] and Liam will write 500 songs, Gem and Andy will write a few and I’ll go back to the ones I haven’t finished off. We never make plans. We haven’t got a record deal now anyway.
"So we’re gonna have to find a new record deal that suits us. That’s where we’re at, and then… we don’t like to rush things. 'Be Here Now' was rushed, 'Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants' was rushed and it’s kind of like, 'If it takes five years for the album to come out, I'm not arsed.'"

: I agree, oasis' time is over. release a new album in 5 years time!?!?!?!, by that time they probably would have split up and probably forgoten.....(which would be a great shame)POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 01:11 pm / quote |

: For some reason it looks more like Ian Brown than Liam in that picture. :/
But anyway. Oasis are a decent band who's first two album were amazing. But I reckon it went down hill from there. The only decent song they've had recently is The Importance Of Being Idle. I only like it cos of the video.POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 01:43 pm / quote |

: I used to love oasis when i was younger, then i discovered more bands, so Im not arsed bout them anymore, by 2010 bands like razorlight will have took over anyway. The so-called b-sides album sounds very worrying, given that the three albums concerned are average at best.POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 02:25 pm / quote |
UJ_boy
: I just find it odd that people say "oh, they're so crap now", yet every gig i've tried 2 get to has been sold out within like 30 mins of the booking office been open. Crazy that.
Oh, and i think they lack what they once had, but they're on to something with what they've got...if that makes sense =SPOSTED: 08/24/2005 - 02:29 pm / quote |

: oh, and when u consider that the b-sides are ussually better than the released songs (i.e. masterplan, talk tonight, half the world away), it might actually work quite well. Just have to wait and see i guess POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 02:31 pm / quote |

Because america's full of Green Day and Blink 182 and emo and screamo. Here in Canada, we love Oasis.
The primary reason people don't like Oasis is because of what they read in the news. Sure they can be tabloid whores at times, but there are one of the best bands out there today whether you like it or not. They're a solid band to say the least, even though they have their occasional muck ups.POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 03:54 pm / quote |

: Oasis has both really good and really bad aspects. The good lies in their use of at least a few solos and original rythm guitar instead of boring power chords. But their songs are stillextremely emo and geared towards senseless pop music. "Wonderwall"?!??!! Garbage! Whatever...hope this album will do some justice.POSTED: 08/24/2005 - 07:17 pm / quote |

: oasis isnt popular in america only because they talk too much crap about it and the taste of their music... yet, every song i hear is a bunch of crap and they do keep from going insane. American bands just want money they dont care about music, only few bands are good and most of the few aren't popular.POSTED: 08/26/2005 - 09:13 pm / quote |

Finally!!! Someone agrees with me. I think the mainstream stuff is pure shite (save Queens Of The Stone Age). There are some American bands that kick ass but have no exposure, like Canadian bands. I wish Death From Above 1979 would be more popular...they kick ass live.POSTED: 12/08/2005 - 01:05 pm / quote |

: I do think that their first couple of albums are worth it, but 'be here now' and 's.o.t.s.o.g.' do require a bit of listening before growing on you. However, you can almost pick out the songs which hadn't been finished the way they were supposed to be.
Heathen Chemistry was quite good and opens up a new light, through Liam's songwriting; whilst DBTT points them in a completely new direction, with tracks from all of the band. The drumming is also really good on the latest album :p
