Oasis To Finish New Album Soon |

Oasis is making quick, early progress on recording their first studio release in three years, singer Liam Gallagher said on November 13, according to Reuters.
He said studio work began last week on the band's seventh album since forming in 1991 and everything should be done by mid-December. After Christmas, the band will come to Los Angeles to mix the album, aiming for a release around August.
As with Radiohead, Oasis are free of major-label shackles -- but don't expect them to follow Radiohead's example, and allow fans to download the album from the Web for whatever price they feel like paying.
Gallagher, peppering his speech with expletives, told Reuters it would be over his "dead body" before he went into a studio and worked hard to release his work for nothing.
As was the case with 2005's "Don't Believe The Truth," the band is collaborating with producer Dave Sardy, and all the members have contributed compositions, not just primary songwriter and guitarist Noel, Liam's older brother.
Liam declined to reveal the titles of his songs, but said they are pugnacious in spirit. Gallagher said "without a doubt" the untitled released would compare to the seventh U.K. albums of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, "Revolver" and "Beggars Banquet" respectively. "There's lots of cool parts, man," he said. "Really, we're throwing everything at it."
Thanks for the info to Billboard.com.

: Its just a shame that they'll have the recording done by the end of the year then have to wait at least half a year before its released. The industry have got to sort this out and get albums released at a much faster rate once they're done and dusted. If it were released in May instead of August then it could end up being the soundtrack to Summer '08.POSTED: 11/14/2007 - 11:27 am / quote |

: Am I the only one who prefers the later stuff to Definitely Maybe? That whole album sounded the same for the duration. Every song had the same mood and tone. The only ones I ever feel like listening to are Rock and Roll Star, Live Forever, and Married with Children. Of course, I love WTS(MG)?, but I legitimately like Heathen Chemistry and Don't Believe the Truth much better than Definitely Maybe.POSTED: 11/14/2007 - 02:22 pm / quote |

: I think its pretty funny that everyone rips on these guys for sounding the same. Every band has their sound. No one else sounds like them. But hey all those emo bands are really changing it up now days huh. Oasis have huge changes in sound in every album. Noel had written the first two albums before they recorded definately maybe and their first and second so much different. And they have an extremely variable sound, they have two singers.....POSTED: 11/14/2007 - 07:19 pm / quote |

: Is it just me or do I hate them with a passion?! I used to love Oasis, seen them twice in concert, very talented, decent albums the whole way through with some great ones, but yet I cannot get over the fact that Noel and the other one are so irritating! Why do they always have to be so damned rude! Do they just pretend to be hard boys complaining at everything that is not Oasis or Beatles related or are they really that stuck up?! I agree though, there are so many bands that sound just like them, I don't want to buy the seventh one! I've already spent almost 400 euro(including gigs) on them! Actually I believe best debut album of all time belongs to The Stone Roses. At least that's my opinion, heck they sound more like The Beatles (in a good way) and they weren't even trying to. POSTED: 11/14/2007 - 09:59 pm / quote |

anyone who said they actually sound like the beatles is deaf. Just because they claim the beatles as their major influence doesn't mean they sound like them.
and yes they're in it for the money. every ****ing band is in it for the money. the bands that are not in it for the money you don't know about...cos they have no ****ing money to advertise themselves...
seriously, some of the greatest bands and singers of all times weren't in it for "the music".
and last but not least, i think it's just hilarious all these people giving them shit, then turning on their ipods to some emo/punk bullshit band. precious, just precious.
they're not one of the biggest rock bands in the planet for no reason.

: Best debut album of all time? How about Van Halen/Van Halen, MC5/Kick Out The Jams, Jimi Hendrix/Are You Experienced, just for starters? I think Definitely Maybe`s a long way further down that particular list. I`m another one who largely prefers Oasis` later stuff. Lyla`s a great single, as is the new one, Lord Don`t Slow Me Down. However, they`re definitely far too old now for all the attitude nonsense.POSTED: 11/15/2007 - 05:39 am / quote |

The man said it all, particularly the bit in parenthesis.
And what's wrong with sounding/wanting to sound like the Beatles. The Beatles literally change music, both the way it was written and the way it sounded, with innovation, they influenced more people than anyone else can ever claim to.

The Definitely Maybe album defined a generation Rock and Roll Star the arrogance of the opening song of a new band the kind of thing that grabs attention .Songs like Cigarettes and Alcohol which was as relevant to people then as it is to the present generation. Live Forever a master piece of the way people feel when young, Married with children speaks for itself and a mellow song to finish a high tempo aggressive album.
Compared to Hendix who without a doubt could play guitar, but did not have a particularly good voice but lyrically not as easy to relate to, not sober anyway, and Van Halen I can't stand means nothing to me the guitar is not for me, not my style.POSTED: 11/15/2007 - 06:27 am / quote |

: I think it should be pretty darn good just like the rest of their albums. I cant believe people say they sound the same. Noel comes up with some of the weirdest chords and puts them in at the perfect time of the song. All their songs just flow perfectly. They might sound the same because they use a lot of the same chords. You kinda have to though when you have written hundreds of songs over your career. Keep rockin Oasis!!!!! Now, with that over, I really look foward to another oasis album, I know is not going to be the greatest thing ever, but it's always interesting to see what they come up with.

: We need people like the Gallaghers in music. Who cares if they want to be the beatles? Its not like Greenday don't want to be The Ramones. Oasis are still one of the most popular British bands as well as the third most succesful, behind of course, the Beatles and the Stones. The music also has a lot of feeling and nice emotion to it rather than a poor whining voice with 3 overdriven power chords knocked up behind it. If greenday had wrote Dont look back in anger or the Importance of being idle, maybe I'd think they were a bit better but they just didnt. Maybe Oasis' last 3 albums weren't fantastic (well I thought they were) buts that just because people got sick of them due to the ridiculous success of morning glory and definatley maybe. And who knows? Maybe it WILL be better than Revolver and Beggars Banquet. Though no, most of you people are purists who t hink that nothing will ever be better than The Rolling Stones and that modern music is shite. Lighten up and listen to it before you slag it off.
