Offspring: New Album Delayed

The California punk band The Offspring has been working on a large amount of new material all year (read story on UG). Some reports believe the new album was supposed to be released in October/November 2005 and has now been delayed until next year due to unknown difficulties. It will be the follow-up to their most recent studio album "Splinter" (2003). The band said in their latest interview that they hoped to get the album finished by the beginning of next year and promised to tour again.

The Offspring released a "Greatest Hits" album last year, which includes previously unreleased track "Can't Repeat". The CD sat at Number 8 on the Billboard Top 200.

The band has been playing at the "Vans Warped Tour" 2005 along with bands like Dropkick Murphys, Millencolin, My Chemical Romance, MxPx, Thrice, The Transplants.

Splinter was much like the old albums. I just saw them a few nights ago and it was brilliant they never fail to impress live. Im looking forward to this album as the last one was good, and can't repeat was a great song too (although wasn't so hot live).

It's prob being delayed because the drummer is doing a side project with Tom Delonge from blink 182, the band is gonna be called Angels and Airwaves, their making a movie out of it too i think. Might be pretty intresting

Sweet. A new album. Hope the delay isn't too much longer or doesn't happen at all. All 7 albums were among the greatest punk/pop-punk records ever. If these new songs are at all like Can't Repeat or Next to You, it could possibly be among their best.

I'm not looking forward to it as much as I should. It seems with each new album they release from Ixnay onwards has made me lose just a tiny bit more interest.

Actually, I was disappointed with the last album because they had this really wicked sounding kickarse guitar riff on their website on a vid of them in the studio, and no such song on the album had that riff. It was kinda reminiscent of The Kids Arn't Alright and Dirty Magic. I'd like to know what happened to that riff!

Maybe it's just me, but when bands release 'Greatest Hits', i think that signals the end of their career and that they're moving on to other things or bands(like Blink 182 did). What they release afterwards may dissapoint many, as it's likely to be different from their other stuff.

Conspiracy of One is one of my favourite albums released by the Offspring. I cant wait for a new album. HOpefully it also gives me the chance to see them if they come here again (Perth< West Australia) I missed it last time

That would have been a kickin' track list! Pity it was a fake, it would have been interesting to hear an Offspring song called, "Vociferous Shadows." That's more like a Bad Religion song title than an Offspring one.
