Dying Scene reports that an insider from AJ Maddah, the boss of the Australian festival Soundwave, has revealed there is some excitement building about a possible new album from The Offspring.
While addressing rumors of The Offspring appearing at Australia's Soundwave festival next year, Maddah said that their new album will likely be mixed in January or February.
"
Hoping to have [Offspring] on the 1st announcement," he said, "
but they now have to mix album in Jan/Feb so hopefully SW13."
The album is supposed to be released sometime next year. After several false starts, The Offspring began recording their new album last week with produer Bob Rock, who has previously worked with Metallica, Aerosmith, Mцtley Crьe, Bon Jovi, The Cult, Our Lady Peace, among others. They also recently posted pictures of musicians playing violins or saxophones on their TwitPic account, hinting that their new album is taking a different musical direction.
The follow-up to 2008's "Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace" will also be the band's first release with their current drummer Pete Parada, who has been in the band since 2007, although he never performed on the last album.
