Canadian band, Our Lady Peace is in the process of recording a new album according to an interview with Raine Maida on Stereosubversion.com.
Lead Singer, Raine Maida commented on the progress of the album saying, “Every three months we get together and we take ten days and write a few songs, record them right away, to capture that instant thing where we haven't been able to find ourselves since our first record.-- Unfortunately -- or fortunately now -- we're in a place where we feel really energized, where it's amazing to be making a record just the four of us in a room, no one hearing it again and not having to worry about expectations”
Raine Maida also said, “
I'm not worried about radio and all that other bullshit.”
Furthermore, lead guitarist, Steve Mazur described some of the songs they had recorded on the bands MySpace blog. One song was explained to have, “[a] hypnotic guitar melody, lyrics about looking over your shoulder” and another to be “slow and stark with very minimal parts, very melodic”.
Steve also added, “Can't wait for you all to hear this stuff.”
More information can be found here, and here.
I love Our Lady Peace, but it's tough to describe their songs simply because the parts that truly stick in your head are indescribable.
Can't wait to hear what comes out of this, anyway.
