Plus 44 Set To Record New Album

After considerable silence and some uncertainty regarding the band's future, Plus 44 has revealed that work has been progressing towards their next album and follow up to 2006's When Your Heart Stops Beating. Frontman Mark Hoppus explained:

"For everyone like me who has been wondering what’s going on with the +44’s, here’s the deal. This whole time we’ve been continuing to write and demo ideas on our own. The only thing is we’ve been waiting for the label to fund the recording, and this just came through. I understand everyone wondering what’s the deal, and believe me a lot has happened that I haven’t posted the minutia of.

"Do you like how I ended that last sentence in a preposition? In any case, all is good. We’re just guys writing songs. But we’re gonna flip it this time around. Now just for fun I’m going to really confuse the issue and go back to saying we’re recording an electronic album with me, Travis, and Carol. And we’re recording the album in Brazil.

"But truthfully, thanks for the support and interest and know that we’re here working as always, and as always we’re creative people with a lot of ideas and energies. But nothing is closer to our hearts than recording our own music."

he was joking about the electronicness and carol....it's kind of an inside joke between the band and fans, because it was the original incarnation of +44, and then the album came out and was not electronic and had 4 members none of which were Carol...but she did sing on the album.

Yeah but i'd buy an album with those 3. I would probably not buy another +44 album with their current set up. Some of the songs are solid but.. hmm

apparently, the 1st album was supposed to be like '115', but scrapped the idea. that was the first song they wrote

no it isnt was the first song mark wrote after blink 182 broke up, obviously about tom.

115 was first song by +44 as a seperate band.

in my opinion, i always thought that +44 was just a watered down Blink 182. im more of an AVA (angels and airwaves) fan myself. even though tom delonge is a bit of a control freak and the vast majority of people who log onto UG probably hate his voice. but i like his voice nonetheless and i think that AVA contributes a bit more to the music world than mark and travis' attempt to reincarnate blink182

if you like this genre, its cool that they're recording, i don't like them anymore, but i got no problem, just not my scene.

either way, AVA isn't that good, delonge keps saying he "sounds like Bono {U2}" or " were making a betle-esque album next" then he writes songs that sound just like blink without the fetish jokes or mark hoppus's voice.

plus, i liked blink, but they made pop-punk popular ( or at least more popular then it should be)

The first album was so middle of the road, hopefully they'll do something more interesting and different this time.

Wrong, 115 was the first one they wrote as a BAND. Mark and Travis alone wrote No It Isn't. Possibly with no intent of it even getting a full release, as it wasn't electronic.

for all the people saying they want a blink reunion...can u honestly see that happening?? they split up coz they fell out with Tom, and he wanted his own thing. Mark was joking when he said they were recording an album in Brazil with Travis and Carol. Carol was originally in the band but left to pursue a more family-friendly lifestyle. The mention of Brazil is a running joke on himynameismark.com referring to the amount of comments asking +44 to come to Brazil.

Also just a quick comment to why people think +44 are ripping off of Blink182. Um sorry but aren't 2/3 of blink182 actually in +44? Dumbasses. Ripping off their own music? Good one.

imo blink will reunite. a band that was that huge can't just go away ya know? plus 44 is pretty great i think and i really liked i empire from AVA. it kinda sucks that tom stopped playing guitar though.
